A Little Bit Of Everything - Chemical - Organic - With COB Lights & UV

re: A Little Bit Of Everything - Chemical - Organic - With COB Lights & UV

Makes sense. I wish I could afford a UV light to sterilize my room. I have a pet bird and want to stay away from bombs and sulfur. I want things clean and sterile before I get the seeds though. Hmmmm so many possibilities. Do you know anyone running UV ? This is a new concept for me.

I currently run a UVB (blacklight) strip in my grow tent, you can also buy a reptile bulb from your local pet store which will do the same thing. They're pretty cheap to buy. As for pests I use Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) blown all over my plants, soil and surrounding areas. This is a sharp silica which will tear through the exoskeleton of any pests (great for dog and cat fleas too!) that crawl over it dehydrating them from the inside out. :thumb:

Which would be for better resin. UVA UVB or UVC. ? Apparently there is a difference I just learned. I know black lights can be UVA and you mention yours is UVB. And the germicidal properties are in UVC. I havnt seen anything that has all three.

From what I have read both UVA and UVB will have an effect on THC production but after I looked deeper into it the only unbiased (not cited by a lighting manufacturer) was a test done in the states years ago which was solely based on UVB and Cannabis, they got me interested hence why I chose to go for the UV route myself. I actually tested one side of my grow with the light and the difference was so noticeable that my wife actually spotted it and pointed it out, that was enough for me to change the location of the light to the centre of the grow. You could actually be right in the fact that I am using UVA though, I vaguely remember choosing this for some reason, probably that I didn't want to jump in full force with the more dangerous UVB and I do like to test things out, safely when possible lol.

Unfortunately as I have not done extensive research on this myself I cannot commit and state this as gospel, only what I have perceived from my reading/researching and my own limited experience. What I will do is try and get a photograph showing the difference in resin production on the plants over the next few days, it may be hard for me to do though as my camera is currently out of action and I'm stuck with using my phone or ipad.

UVC I haven't actually read up on so I can't make even an educated guess as to whether that would increase the production of any cannabinoids. Thanks for finding me something else to research and learn :)

My head is spinning with new info. It hurts a little.

After just checking what I actually ordered it was listed as a 24" UV black light and this is where my confusion must lay. It's too late for me to edit my original post where I mentioned the light so thanks for picking up on that. UVA it is, I may throw some UVB in there in the future if I get some very thick gloves and start wearing long sleeves which never happens in my tropical climate house ;)

Haha I know how you feel. It's 6:30am here and I have another half hour until I can get to bed, the tiredness is making me dizzy too :thumb:

Ah our old friend anxiety, I know them so well. A good smoke usually sorts it out, or makes it worse depending what I'm smoking. :thumb:

I don't mix work and my medications habits. And yes sometimes it helps to smoke but. Sometimes it makes anxiety worse. And if I'm dwelling on something I only dwell more. Obviously dosing is key.

re: A Little Bit Of Everything - Chemical - Organic - With COB Lights & UV

I agree. I'm lucky enough that when I'm working I can smoke and it actually helps my creativity, though with the stigma attached to Cannabis over here it's enough to make anyone paranoid now and again. Still, getting out on the beach or on some field in the middle of nowhere is a great buzz in itself and a good smoke whilst framing a shot makes it real fun, sometimes so much so that I have to go back again at a later date to get the shot I actually went for in the first place

Impairment or smell would be the end of my career. I can not be impaired. But again. Dosing and CBD give options. The stigma and my career will likely never coincide regardless of what our government decides to do.
I'm so sorry I've gummed up your journal. Enjoying the chat really.

Hey no problem, my journals are not journals per say, mainly a way of being able to talk about what I do with like minded people so never any need to apologise. It's a pleasure to chat.

The clock has hit 7am here though so now I shall make my excuses and head to bed. If you think of any questions that I may be able to answer then feel free to post away but there will be a delay in my answering, there are a couple of good growers subbed in though so they may also be able to help you (if it's about growing then they will know more than me lol). All the best and I hope the rest of your night doesn't drag. :thumb:

Damn, I managed a solid 10 hours sleep, amazing what a good bit of convo and a smoke can do eh?

I have read that Advocate at one time, I remember it specifically because I was interested in purchasing their lights. It's a good read but how factual is it? I'm of a cynical point of view I suppose when it comes down to someone trying to sell me their lights, or telling me what's best when well, they're trying to sell me their lights lol. It could all be true though don't get me wrong, but the only unbiased report I read was from years before LED or even legal growing was unheard of for the average man, back in 19 o'plonk, I think it was an article from the 80's.

The thing is though as more and more research is pumped into this particular field the truth will out and we may all be lucky enough to find that perfect spectrum for each individual perfect medicine for our imperfect selves. This is the day I'm waiting on and I can see it coming as apart from the unscrupulous few this industry could probably be one of the most beneficial industries to mankind in a long long time :thumb:

Things picked up here quickly haha. :thanks: Kriaze I have looked and checked out growmau5, I haven't done too much research to commit to the conversion yet but As soon as the next harvest is done I will do it as a summer project.

You don't have to feel a need to commit to anything here mate. It's all exploratory, sometimes right sometimes wrong. No need to commit to a particular :thumb:
