Thanks for the kind words on the pie. Crust’s from scratch, too—I’ve been baking for more than 4 decades. The pesto (made from garden basil & garlic) pies have been even better, will post a pic next time I bake one.
@BeezLuiz, IIRC you make yr own pies, too, so post a shot if/when yr so inclined.
I grew up in a rural area with lots of poor folks & life was rough for ‘em, as it is everywhere in the U$A w/out much coin. But if yr poor in cities, you’re basically screwed. I can’t fix much, but try to give folks some spot help. I sometimes give my homegrown weed to the homeless, too. Nope, won’t help much, but it doesn’t hurt for folks to have something to take away a bit of pain, which there's a lot of on the streets.
& laziness factors in, too. I’ve been too lazy to do preserves (though I am planning on making pickled hot peppers this yr, along with the hot pepper freezer jam using BL’s basic recipe—thx again amigo). It’s less work for me to cart produce to Meals on Wheels than it is to can it.
Sloth has its virtues.
