A Four Strain Barney’s Farm Grow

That green makes my heart sing!
I like it too. So many shades of green. :)
Beautiful scenes brother
Thank you, GF. Your garden is looking quite beautiful as well.
-------

The tallest plant was supercropped tonight just after lights on. I didn't want just the one dictating the lamp height. If all goes well it will turn and stay a more similar height as the others. I'm really surprised it was the indica tester that got so tall. :peace:

Today the supercropped top was lifting itself back up. There are 4 others that are also taller. They grew at least 2" since the indica was supercropped last night. Its been a couple weeks since the flip and things are still stretching. The tent canopy is thick but the light is making through it to the lower branches. I'll defoliate more soon. :peace:

Looking good in there Stinker!

You know you can't keep a good branch down. :)

Thank you sir.
Some have tried. She is looking up tonight. A little stress can be a healthy thing. :)
I have tried! I've tied ideally-weighted objects to branches to hold them in place. I end up with a branch with a 90-degree angle on it that then turns up! :laughtwo:

That 90° is what I want. Then whats between the bend and the turned up end reach up for the sky. It also beefs up the lower stuff. Instead of weights I tie or anchor to the side of the bag. Good stuff. :)

There were a few plants on the back wall that I hadnt looked at in 5 or 6 days. This morning I went to rearrange and inspect. Unfortunately the 2nd indica tester has hermed. Its not nanners but male flowers. They were detected early but its clear they are everywhere. I wont even attempt to individually remove them. It was a nice looking plant. On the plus side there is a little more room now.

In the tent they are drinking their fill. Pots are now dry in 24 hrs.

Thanks for looking in. Happy grows :peace:

I wondered if you had any suspicion as to why it hermed?

Its hard to say. Its a new unreleased strain, it could be genetic. Its odd that the 2 indica were the tallest and grew more like sativa with long inter-nodal spaces. The other was just supercropped so I hope its not stress related. I would like to grow 1 out.
I suspect that growing in a crowded full tent with optimum lighting, food and other conditions could also be considered stress. These hi-bred weeds get pushed pretty hard. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. :peace:
Bummer about the balls. Everything looks incredible though.
:thanks:

I am growing sativas again this year and because my neighbours have cut their trees back so much it has made my balcony stand out like dog's balls, so I have to go pretty hard on their training and I wonder if that could provoke a hermie, I hope not, it has never occurred to me so far, but there's always a first time.

Never seen a herm from training. Ever.
I recon it would be in the genes most likely, or the breeder reversed a branch to collect pollen and pollinated the same plant. That will give you a fat chance of any of the beans hermying.
Always pollinate a separate clone/mother to the plant you treated to create the pollen. It can even be a clone just not the same plant the pollen came from.
Unfortunately these days it is common for breeders to collect seeds from the pollen donor plants because it's money. But it can destroy your reputation.
Not saying this is the case here, just seen breeders do this sometimes for greed and others for ignorance.

Good morning Stinker!

Fixed it for you :)

Hello Lerugged, thanks for checking in. It was a bummer seeing the male flowers. I used to bend, top and abuse and they just respond back stronger. When the whole plant suddenly breaks out with male flowers its probably genetic. Its good that these get tested like this. I know so little about breeding and the processes. I do like how the S1's that I have grown out, have turned out. The MxOP in the tent (center rear) now is from an S1 Bean. It'll be the 3rd I've grown out.

These plants can take alot. Training stress probably has little to do with a plant turning. Timing and enviromental stressors probably have more of an impact.
Hopefully your neighbors trees fill in as your garden grows. I love hearing foreign english language expressions or slang. "stand out like dog's balls" pretty much says it. The gradual filling of the balcony with green is lest drastic than having a sudden jungle on the balcony. Happy grows.
--------

Its no fun culling a plant that is this far along. 8 will be a better fit for the 3' x 3'. Last night everything was inspected again for more male flowers. All clear. The supercropped indica has turned its head and is now pulling against her restraint. :peace:

Man thats a real kick in the male flower sack.

Stinker I would love to know what caused that, I had high strangeness occur on one in my outdoors run last season, and do exactly that.

Did I read correctly that your tent is a 3x3?

Always love your grow show, the added twist of just growing them out with a big main has me turning the clock back.....like it a lot.

Hi DV8, thanks for stopping by. In this instance I think the reason for the male flowers was likely genetic. There is probably no way to know for sure.
I grow in a 1m x 1m or 3'3" x 3'3". Its tight but it works. More plants without training has worked well for me. I used to top and LST to the max. This is easier! I am also very happy with the results. Big mains with a healthy lower canopy. With the exception of 1 plant, my last run went seed to harvest in 96 days, 8 plants. The 1 that went longer was mostly sativa and flowered over 3 months. I needed a break and It was worth the wait.
