6040-F2525 A1 COB: Legit or cheap knockoff?

I'm getting real skeptical to these cobs. The girls are getting really stretchy and far apart the nodes. The one i topped off is the worst. Going to take som pics later today. Fuck i really wanted this to succeed

Well here is an update of the 6040 grow. They have been alive since 14/2 so they are one month old now. I am not super positiv with the results so far compared to 400w hps on the other hand i have only given them 300 assumed blurp watt so far. It feels like i am in a crossroad now. Continue, doing the work to put upp the hps or order some new lights.... :)

This is a soil grow with tap water and Canna's fertilizers.

Thank you for continuing to update this thread.
You bet. I was little skeptical a few days ago and was so close putting in the hps again but since then it has been a little positive growth in the tent so i am pretty confident i am going to fulfill this test grow with these lights just for the fun to see what you can pull off with these lights and tight budget.

But i can se from just these few hours of running tonight with the four extra lights it's about 4 degrees C hotter in the tent. The aluminum sheet is quite hotter and i can barely touch it... i wounder how long these leds will hold up..... :)

Are you running those in place of your HPS, or in addition to it? The latter might help fill in some portions of the spectrum that the COBs are lacking (and, of course, add more gross light-energy).

Yes they are in place of it. The reason is to test these cobs out to se how much in difference to the hps they are. The funny thing is that i was sure the heat would be more manageable with leds but i was wrong. With the hps turned in overdrive 425w temp in top of the tent was att 27C and now with led 32C. The cooltube really does it's trick in this case.

Im going to give it a few more days... i got a circulation fan problem now to. It had failed when i opened the tent to night. I have been running it on a tyristor controller, so the motor is probably toast. It runs on full right now but i doubt it holds the night.

I hope you get the fan issue straightened out. I had one on a generic speed controller about 15 years ago, and had it running at a slower speed. Partway through the lights-on cycle, I started smelling smoke....

Someone once told me that smoke is the magic that all electronic devices run on, lol. Once one releases its store of smoke, it's all over.

Those would be awesome, boxed in, with a fan blowing through the box (and directly out of the grow room).

Sorry for the lack off updates. Got sick over this easter. Completely lost in FarCry 5 =) Going to take the girls for a night out this evening and get some nice upskirt fotos of the buds... They are swelling pretty nice by now.

So 64 days have lapsed under the cheapest growlight you can find from china. The 6040 Cob.

Cheese no 2.

I am looking into those 6040's as well. I been running an 1800 watt crxsunny(300w at wall) and a 1500watt dimgogo(250w at wall). The comibe works great for my 3'x5' bud tent. Harvest half of it every month. I am roughly getting 4-6 ounces month cured per 1.5'x2.5'. I tabletop every plant using the super cropping method and lst. I make flat canopys usually only 5-6 inches thick. This is ofc just for medical use as a few of us live here with cards. Anyways, I get a decent harvest using led. Both dirt cheap lights but the crxsunny went out after 30days so I returned it. Now looking into building my own light setup with these 50w led chips. I appreciate the info here and think the rf noise is worth dealing with imo. This way is so cheap... Again thanks and I will update with my results with these 6040s

Nice hearing your thoughts about it. The 6040 seem to perform like any burpel/blurp board out there. I got them dirt cheap, think i got them for free and only paid 20$ for the shipment. The other stuff was just upcycled from scrap. They are absolutely worth looking in to.

Sorry to hear about the crxsunny light giving in after just a month. There are allot of scammers out there today that want to take our money, it's really hard to navigate all products sometimes. Our community here is very good starting place if you want to see how a certain light performs. So its good to test it out and post it so others can learn easy.

In this grow i haven't tested soil pH or checked nuts pH. Think im going to check the runoff tonight just to see how its doing. So some one else can certainly outperform my results from this grow.

Hi all. Had a play with these cobs a few months ago. These are the setups i built to try them out.

Two fans 4 chips: @ 30cm distance get 360 umols.

One fan 3 chips: @ 30cm distance get 274 umols.

One fan 1 chip: @ 30cm distance get 146 umols.

NEEDS the fans. Goes way hot if they fail.

Very cheap but not impressed with the lifespan. Had run it for 2-3 weeks over some plants. Burples failed within 3 weeks and blew a house circuit beaker. I modified the 4 chip unit and replaced 2 of the burples with white.
had that running over some propagation stuff at work (not weed) and the burples failed in 3-4 weeks. Whites ok.

Upshot?? I think they have a use if you are doing a small space, or just want a supplement to an HPS, or a just regulating day-length. I did measure power use and they use a lot of juice for the relativity low PAR output.

I have an off the shelf "600W" two COB unit.

@30cm distance get 835 umols. Much better value i reckon, but still, a light for a small space.

I use it on my "spacebox". :)
