600W LED Grow

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

Irish, we didn't find that but a friend told me to tell ya that his scrog attempt with the four panels produced about the same as our comparison with the 1000 watter and the taller plants. mid 300 grs. I hope this works out for you but my conclusion from that is that a sog with stacked plant counts and hardly any veg is the next thing to try. Not prepared to do that in this environment though. 2 lbs + off 15-16 plants using a 1000w does my meds in one grow for the year. Why fuck around trying to accomplish that all year round with something else or risk getting nailed with 80 plants on a 4x4 table doesn't make sense to me...jmho!

ya the sog dose seem the way to go with leds for sure, but that not my growing style either. dont really want to have a shit load of little clones all over and risk being over my plant count. i rather just do a few big ass plants and get my yield that way. i know my 1000w hps will do the trick nicely in my 4x4 tray. so my hope is that i can achieve some nice buds using 600w of leds and not have to run the hps. but foot print seems to be the bad thing compared to hps. other then that i am happy so far with this light and the buds i am getting at this point. but latter months will tell us everything.

as far as the mylar, its all around my walls but dosent seem to help with my led light because of the light spread, but i am not going start hanging shit off of my light to get reflection, great ideal but i just dont feel i should have to do that to make a light work good, seem like too much BS. but my plants are fine in the covarge area right now, their is a little shadowing on the outer edges but i try to rotate them so they get better light. but i can say i couldnt fit any more plants this size then what i have right now and be covered with the light. i would have to have the light pretty high to cover more plant. so i am hoping i can achive the same yield as i would with a few more plants under hps using less plant under the leds.

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

would it be possible to double the foot print or your 600w led with a light mover?

yes, i have a light mover but dont want to use it because the weight of the unit makes the motor bog down and its hard to get the other rollers to follow the motor, its hard to explain but i tried it and didnt like how it worked with the led unit. i will need to rig it if i wanted to use it for leds. i was just having allot of issues with it, the design wasn't meant for a long heavy led unit. the way that it will work is moving it long ways, witch i dont need, i need it to move the shorter direction, kinda like an air plane wing since thats the shorter part of the light that has less foot print.

here is a pic of the light rail to give u a better idea of how it looks and works. any ideas i will be very thank full. remember i need to to move like a plane wing it would look like a T on the light rail if that makes sense?lol

and here is a pic of how the light hangs. i need it to move towards the camera and the back of the room. i jujst dont know how to mount the chains in order to do this?

Those two extra trolleys on the rail you don't need for a single lighting setup.
Those are designed for the use of multiple reflectors. From the looks of your setup you can hang three reflectors in a row (long ways). So for using a single led unit/reflector you would take those two trolleys off the rail and just use the center motor. Now for the easy fix for your setup..

You need to bolt a sideways bracket on it were that eye bolt is. Remove the eye blot and replace it with a smaller nut and bolt and lock washer to hold the sideways bracket on (the one your going to make). I made mine out of a 1/8 inch thick piece of flat stock steel that I got a local hardware store. The flat piece of of steel (that I used for my bracket) is aprox 12 inches long and 2 inch wide. I painted the bracket flat black and it looks like it came with the unit.. If I'm not mistaken that bolt hole on the motor bracket is offset. So when you setup your new sideways bracket just make sure it's centered (but the bolt hole wont be.. Make sense?.. Then put two hooks on the ends of your new bracket and your done.. That bracket can be spun (and tightened down) in any position to make your light track straight. You will see what I'm talking about when you set it up. Easy fix my friend...

I've tracked a heavy 4 foot 8 tube T'5 light setup on my track (without a problem) witch is the same tracking system you have in your picture.. The T'5 setup was aprox 30lbs.

How heavy is that 600w led unit?

Those motors can handle quite a bit. I think you will be surprised how strong they are...

this isnt probly the same rail you have? u probley have the light rail 3.5 or something?. i believe this is some off brand one? it says max is 20lbs and my light is 25lbs. seems i need those extra trolleys for added support. but i was thinking of doing what u were saying but just dont trust the mover that much and chance a $2000 light falling on my girls.

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

Ive been wanting to try a light mover my self. I almost want to hook the light up to a motor the simply spins the light in a circle. It would increase the coverage -especially with the larger units. I cant believe your light is only 25lbs. I thought it would be more like 45-50lbs considering my single HGL light is near 25lbs.

Ya I have a light rail, but it's not the 3.5.. It's one of the first ones that came out.. 2.0 or something like that but it is made by light rail... It's only rated at 20 or so lbs but of course I always push the limit...LOL

Ya I understand about the light falling on the girls.. Better to be safe then sorry..

the only way to double the foot print is get another light. people are misguided with light movers increasing foot print, since the light can only be in one place at any time...light movers might be effective if your using 3 side by side cause then all plants would be receiving some light all the time but one going from one end to another is like flowering for 6 hrs a day.

Light movers do allow you to put the light closer to the plants so they receive more energy... and they also help penetrate the canopy with the changing light angle. Plants are always getting some light, so not sure the 6 hour analogy is accurate...

tried em and found harvests better with two lights vertical and the plants can get just as close if not more. just my personal exp. though

I'm actually thinking about going vertical next grow - it's the easiest way to get all the light to the plants as far as I can see. With a long narrow grow area though, I was thinking about hanging the bare bulb from the mover... :hmmmm:

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

shit now thats a crop
And I did'nt see any led lighting ?? Ha !! The devil made me say that !! Them buds are the best i've seen at this stage Irish. i really think you're gonna do good on this crop. How good will be known in about a month !! But I gotta say, lookin good !!:rollit::yummy::goodjob:

Damm, how heavy is that light ?? You could pull out a motor, with all that chain you got . i figure if you had a light mover that only moved about a foot, then it might help the plants some. But the truth is that nothing will spread out the light, like another 600 led, then you could add 2 more plants, and get full coverage. but that's a lotta $$ !! :ganjamon::ganjamon::thumb:

reflectors come in all sizes...anything would help..or have the lamp moving in between the plants about 4-6 inches down from the canopy.

well thats for the good word on how my girls look. yes the devil makes u say some $hit some times..lol. i hope things turn out good. we shall see in a month

he i like to do everything big, big ass chains, that is a $2000 and ill be damn if it fall or if it jets jacked..lol its a heavy light, and is not fun hanging by ur self. and yes another light is the only true and best way to go about that, but that too much loot for my blood.
