5 Unknown Strains - 2012 Grow

oh great, as long as you have something absorbing the odor rather than covering it :thumb:

I have the same issue as you. I want something quiet, but I had to go with cheap for this one. I heard panasonic whisperline or elicent are among the quietest. Haven't tried either tho.. I can definitely recommend a fiber glass muffler :) it works great, reduces a lot of noise. Foam mufflers also work, but imo they're not as good.

I've seen that video too. He covers his ducts with sleeping bags to reduce vibration noise. You can simply buy insulated ducting and it will cost less than a sleeping bag + the room wouldn't look "raggedy" lol ;).. That guy just had so much space and ducting so it made sense value-wise.
I'm talking about wind noise not vibration. Only mufflers will help with that. Covering the fan itself with polyester is a serious fire hazard.

They have air cooled kits for my 400w but im trying to jump to a 600w or 1000w. I was thinking about just ordering a 4x4x6 tent and having it exhaust out the window. Im in my closet now so if I stay there then ill make sure I go all out for the nicer cfm fan since ill have 15 plants going but if I buy the tent then ill just run with the exhaust fan over the hood and out the window.

I may just get the cfm for moving purposes. Ill look into the one you listed in your above post.

How does that work out? Wouldnt you still smell it threw out the house? Ppl come over so I wouldnt want the crazy noises or the smell running wild threw my place. Thats the biggest reason why I dont have one yet. I rather everything be out of site.

I found this one for $119 the least so far

Carbon filter takes care of the smell and the muffler takes care of the noise :) That's why I was recommending them. You said you're holding off because you want a quiet fan. That made me think we're in the same situation of exhausting inside. I think I'd be more paranoid if I were exhausting outside to be honest.

Do what's most convenient for you and your plants bro.. I'm just sharing what I do :). I saw so many good reviews about that fan. I'm holding off buying anything because my next step is downsizing. I'll probably pick up a 4" with a small tent after this grow.

Yea I put my self in a rutes with this next grow. I cloned to many plants now I have to upgrade. Plus the new beans are almost here. And I really want to grow this GDP and kush's I got. On top of breeding. This run will be a good one and then ill take a break threw the summer maybe or do a gorilla grow :). I like the challenges. I found a carbon filter for $80 including the cfm fan I may get that and just have an extra fan just incase.

That's actually a good idea. Nothing like having a fan crap out and having to order a replacement.

LOL just smelling up the house! I would too in Cali!

Wiz I picked up an inexpensive inline fan and filter on amazon. Gotta remember which one. Its in my first journal. Think I got em both for $120? CFM's are 250?... Hell I never see it! I have the filter in the tent but the inline fan is in the attic and vents out there. The fan is quiet. A person can hear it if they take a huge hit of crack! Short of that I don't hear a thing. My parents and inlaws come over all the time and smell nothing or hear anything. Hell my Mother in law lives next door!

im just growing free at the moment. thankfully my plants only smell a little while they are still young. i plan to just extract the entire room through a carbon filter and down to the lounge through the chimney breast. nice warm air from upstars to downstars, will save a fortune on heating bills...the muffler thing sounds like a tremendous idea!

just how much heat can cool tubes clean out? i would be over the moon if i could filter the heat and the smell in seperate ways.

does a grow room remain at ambient temps with a decent cooltube hood?
