Indoor and Outdoor are simply different disciplines each with their own challenges and advantages. I look forward to mastering each one day. Indoor grows allow many in urbanized areas to experience an ancient relationship between farmer and crop.

I look at it like this in my case only.

This Legal backyard grow has turned into 20 times more work than any indoor grow I have even done. The most factor being the surprise that these plants got this huge.

amagine if you will...

You planted 6 clones in a normal neighbor hood backyard. You plant all kind of camo plants encluding lots of sunflowers. The garden flowers, corn, sunflowers grew great. everything was just fine. Well the little clones kept grpwing like a story book bean stalk. The next thing you know the clones are at the top ofyour backyard fence. Well 300 feet of string and two weeks later the pant is still 1 foot over the fence. So ou go to home depot and buy fence top lattice board. Hell yah that gives me 2 more feet man. Well 200 more feet of string and two weeks the clone is a foor above the lattice board. Shit man this sucks. Never mind the two story window from my neighbors yard. Never mind about the hispanic yard crew that is mowing the lawn on the other side of the fence 5 feet from my plant.

Okay what do you do now. The plant cannot be tied over any more. There is already 500 feet of string inside the plant. Maybe the stretch is done. ( LOL ). Another week goes by and now you have 3 feet branches swinging over the fence and lattice fence into your neighbors yard. At this point your just in shock on how big the plant is. You have no choice but to make a cover out of plastic and block views. Not to easy with a plant that is not 10 feet tall and 15 feet wide. 25 feet round from arm to arm planted next to a fence.

Then you turn around and notice you have 3 more. Time to make wood cages and nettings for you know your 12 foot branches will snap off in the first wind. Find and set up a carport cover with no help. Shit the carport has to be lifted 3 feet, Dam. Why do each of my plants require water on different days. Okay where my watering chart? What the hell was that? was that the meter reader in my nieghbors yard with a pair of binocs reading my meter?

Okay I thinking this is way to long. So long story short. This out door grow this year was mega work. Sleeping with my plants does not even effect me. It is a no brainer must do in my book. Also just the stress of having plants this big is what makes it really hard.

All the above being said I can next year grow will be in order and I know what to expect. It will cut the work load down 90%. No kidding. This grow is truly choas grow. I could type for week about all the work I have done.

I also think it would take me years to match Munki indoor grow and what he does. It just goes to show you that you have growers here that know what it takes to do things right. Munki has earned his votes. My votes this year come with lots of luck.

You what to talk about work? Huh? I wonder who going to have more work come trimming time? I am told it will take me weeks to trim this year.

And last you can check out my grow thread called dirtfrsmers backyard giants in outdoor. The plant in the contest is small compared to some others I have. I have one plant that I will post in my thread that is about 11 feet tall and 15 feet wide. And about 25 feet round. It has about 40 3 foot colas. The stalk is pushing two liter size as are the colas.

Well Imwould love to type some more but I got work to do :)

lol, like I said, lol. A LOT of work even for an outdoor plant in someones backyard! And yeah if its only you doing the trimming it could take you a week easy unless thats all you do is trim, for like 24/7 three days straight. Then you might be able to get it done in three days. but thats just not reasonable, no one can trim for 72 hours straight. One sleepless night is doable, 2 is not, not to mention after about 6 hours of trimming your hands start to cramp and swell, or even sometimes blister and bleed if you keep hacking away at it even after your raw (which I dont suggest) lol. I have pics of my hands all blistered up from trimming in my first journal, and it wasnt even close to as much trimming as you are gonna have to do. Heres the pic if you wanna see my hand after 6 hours of trimming,( Picture of hand after trimming, blisters band-aided) I thought I had a pic of the actual blisters but I dont, instead I just have this pic of after I band-aided them and continued to trim. You can see a nice red ring around my thumb though, man this picture brings back some memories...OUCH!!. The next day my hands were actually black and blue from bruises on my hand where the scissors were rubbing me wrong. Not fun at all, you don't realize how much you need your hands until you cant use them anymore! lol. The pic makes it look not as bad as it actually was, but you get the idea.

Needless to say its a lot of work, theres no arguing that. Im an indoor guy myself (atleast for now) but I hope someday I will have a backyard like Dirtfarmers where I can grow some 15 ft tall monters. That would be just too fucking cool!

By the way, Dirtfarmer, have you given some thought to adding a link to your grow journal thread in your "signature" area? It would make it easier for me and others to see your entries for "plant of the month" and get interested in your journal, then quickly jump to your journal and see how you actually grew the massive plants you entered here. And it should help you get more hits on your journal too...if thats something your interested in? Myself, I totally get off on knowing that other people are reading and learning from my journals. It makes me feel purpose full and like Im helping the community here. Ive been donating money to all kinds of 420 causes and benefits for years but never fealt like I was really actively helping people with their MJ challenges, but to have journals on here and to be able to help people learn about the MJ plant first hand is truly a pleasure for me and makes me feel like Im helping out "the cause" just a little more. Which is something thats really important to me.

Anyhow this month really had some excellent entries, gotta love 'em. Beautiful plants everyone!

I agree dirtfarmer. Put a link in your sig to your grow and it really didn't hurt to include a link to any contest you are entered in. That way, every post you ever made will instantly have that link to Plant, Nug, or Member of the Month.

:goodjob: taming that beast DirtFarmer. I guess bigger isn't always better if the situation becomes unmanageable.

I never care who wins, its just so nice to compare with other growers and smokers. Post count and rep count mean nothing. The buds mean everything. Each member who submits his/her own budz and plants is a winner in my book. This month has killer outdoor grows, freakin lovem. Ima indoor specialist so to see the outdoor plants is a real treat for me this time of year. Winter is coming so the indoor guys will get to truly shine real soon.

Congrats to all.

Thank you everyone for your votes.

BWC, I think people can see the results before voting and since there is a natural tendency with people to want to vote for the winner, I'm not too surprised that I'm grabbing the later votes. But enough of my mitigating my own grow ... it is really nice and I graciously accept all of your support. :thankyou:
