Ohh I know bud, I only state what the manufacturer says, that’s obviously to be taken with a grain of salt. It’s really (120) 5watt diodes mixed between bridgelux epileds, soo they’re decent chips, not top bin chips but not bottom bin either and at 260 watts that’d be roughly 2.1 watt per diode with a little margin for the small fans. Now I’m interested to see what would happen if switching the driver out to one that would supply the full 5 watts per chip
Obviously it wouldn’t last as long, but hey, I’ve had these lights for 3 years now, I can’t complain one bit that I haven’t had to get new lights and I still see the same yeilds as I would have when I had first plugged them in, that simply cannot be said of hps. I do agree though there is LOTS of misinformation out there about led lights and it took me probably 5-6 months or better researching lights before I finally pulled the trigger on these, this was right before cobs became a thing and frankly I wish I had waited to buy cobs, but they were just coming out and weren’t efficient yet, now I’m considering the switch but it will be after fall that I’d make the investment.
