420 Magazine's Official Girl Scout Cookies Comparative Grow By Modest Grower

Day 31 since breaking surface. I'll be doing a reservoir change and up my nutrients a bit. I'll keep PH between 5.5 and 5.6. Only change I made is I reduced the humidity setting to 65%

Pretty pleased with the stability of this set up for it being a first draft so to speak. I am trying to follow the fancy VPD charts so I realized it was time to start lowering humidity a tad

Day 32. I upped the nutrients and did a resevoir change last night. The ph ended up at 5.7. I think I will leave it there for now and see but they seem unfazed by it. Really no noticeable difference since the last pic but I took one so here they are

Hopefully, I'll make some time to get in there later today and continue training. My plan originally was to do a scrog and fill the 2x4. With the short bushy structure of these, I am not sure if I will follow through with that or not. The plant on the left does seem to be getting a bit skinnier in the leaves but the two are pretty similar.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and at least a good Monday! Have a great rest of the day. :snowboating:

Training continued today on day 32 above surface. It might look like chaos now, but we won't truly know until the end

You can see brown dots on stems where I had the thread for training previously. I understand the risk of a thread going un monitored for a while especially earlier in veg but even keeping an eye on them, just moving the thread you notice small scrapes. Its a potential stress but I don't see an issue yet. On the very tops I just pinched off the grow tips topping them and forcing growth below hopefully.

I guess I went a little hard on the training last night after a birthday celebration or two. I accidentally snapped a branch, you can actually see it if you look close in the last picture. Pretty bummed but I don't have a set time for these so nothing too bad. I'm trying to clone the branch today in a puck to grow in soil so we shall see.

I've been having pretty good luck cloning recently but this piece is fairly small and broke off last night so if it roots its pretty impressive.

I hope all is well!

I know the feeling. I cut the head off of one of the 4 quadline branches.

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope everyones week is going smooth. I would post a picture of the ladies but I have a few non comparative plants soaking up the glory the @Budget LED light has to offer. No joke it is not close to 100% power and the plants I moved in exploded with growth.

Anyway, I am working on a make shift light for them until I think I can smooth over another light purchase with the wife (and likely tent hehe) so I will move those out tonight and update with a photo

On to the GSC! I am backing off on the training for a while. I'll start leveling it out a bit in a few days but they are coming along nice. The one on the right has had no issues the entire time besides a little need for calmag but the one on the left is showing another concern. The fan leaves at the bottom are curling up a bit on the serrated edges. Not crazy but one finger even seems to be taco-ing a bit.

From my research I see its usually a humidity or temp issue. My temp was 73F today and 65% max RH. Since the temp dropped I decided to crank up the light a bit and see if I can bring the temp back to around 77F where I believe we are in the VPD range (hope that's right acronym).

So full confession, I had the PH climb a bit as the resevoir temp settled in and I made a rookie mistake (don't bash me too hard, I know) and added just a tiny pinch of baking soda. I'm hoping that isn't the issue but if things get worse I will do a res change right away.

I cropped the picture

So up until now, all of my plants have been under 24/7 light. I gave all of my stuff away when I moved and I just haven't picked up a timer. I got 2 today and I will be switching the light schedule to 18/6 in the next day or so

Looking nice and healthy!
Don't sweat on the damages done during training....we all do it....:hmmmm: quite often.
Or, play yoyo with pH until it's perfect...raising ppm's by the hundreds :eye-roll:
Baking soda is fine to use as a pH up. A little unstable in it's raw form. Mix it first with water 4 to 6 TBL spoons to 400 ml warm water. Let it breath and evaporate over time.
Warm it up mix it and use a few drops as needed to raise pH.
Cupping leaves are an indication of heat stress, excessive humidity, or high EC.
your tent might have a couple of areas of stagnant airflow.
Anyway,
:thumb: looking great....have fun!

@Modest Grower Happy belated birthday bro :happy-birthday: Better late than never lol!

Thought I'd bust on over, had a quick look through & your setup looks awesome bro. Plants look really healthy! Can I just ask & I'm sorry If you've already covered this before, what controllers are you using? I really wanted to get the dimlux VPD set up but just ran out of pennies! I've instead got myself an infra red hand laser thingy, It will tell me the temp of the plants so I can try to work out the correct VPD. Is this pretty much what your doing? TIA

One
