420 Magazine's Official Girl Scout Cookies Comparative Grow By Justin Goody

Aren't you in Pro Mix + perlite with GeoFlora?

I've never had issues with overwatering Pro Mix and I don't use the extra perlite. It can be used in hydro applications per the website.
SPM holds onto oxygen preventing root suffocation.
Yours has coco added. That should also help.
On this grow and many others, yes.

I agree, they may sag a bit from time to time but I don't generally get overwatering problems with this mix. I do almost everything by feel/weight so though I can't say exactly why, I know she's safe.
Qwazimodo next to her is kind of doing her own dance though lol

Thank you
It's on now!

Done ...thank you, appreciate the tag and consideration for this. Much love

I've grown a few that get some wavy leaves despite the VPD and watering being on point. The Gramps's cut of GG4 has a wave or warped look to the leaves. It's entirely possible that yours is genetic, like the GG4.
My Charlotte's Web has a similar wave to the leaves as well.

Good to have you here, VG. Really enjoying your grows as well.

Ya I wondered if maybe it was my hard water that always caused that rippling, but it's more likely to be a genetic issue I'm sure.
I get pink stems really early too (my CBG auto is very pink) and it's never caused problems yet, though I'm always watching and waiting.

i never worry about red stems. most of my plants go through a red stem phase. i used to hang out with a bunch of jamacains that thought red stems were a good sign, so i never got a bad connotation about it.

Here’s a bit more flattering shot for ya @Emilya

She’s gonna be pretty in the next few days.
Been a while since I up potted from a solo cup but I can see roots trying to find their way out. I’ll probably move her into her new pot Monday unless anyone has a good reason to leave her a bit longer?

Happy Monday, growers. Big girl is looking great.

Not sure if the little one is figuring it out, or fizzling out. Those cotyledons have me worried (a bit like @Carcass G Ice baby) but the stem is still firm and leaves still green. There’s always a chance...
What does this normally mean if they start out wrinkle as one of mine like that to?

When I first started noticing red stems on my northern lights I was slightly concerned, but that quickly faded, having had the cut running for a couple years now, I expect the red stems, and even the stalk of the plant to be a mostly red/green mix. Changing my temps and feed regimen hasnt changed a thing color wise, I’d say it’s a genetic thing, I wouldn’t be worried however, although one of my smaller producers, it’s my tastiest strain in the bank at the moment and very stabilized.

Hi @Trala ! (just thought I would mention you!)

It looks happier, I will give it that. This whole way of working this HP is contrary to how I water with a strong wet/dry cycle though... you keep it wetter than I do... and it is my belief that this is what is causing the "wrinkles"... but what you are doing seems to be working for you and I don't want to criticize. :Namaste:

As far as roots trying to find their way out indicating the need to uppot... this too is not something that I subscribe to. I start out and stay for a good long while in a small cup, in order to form a rootball in the constricted space... you are racing for the next pot size... again, not exactly how I do things, but this is your party and I am here to observe, not rock the boat. You asked for a good reason though, so I will give you one. Your plant can not yet drain that cup of all the water in there in 24-36 hours, so the roots still have a ways to go before they are strong enough to justify the need for a larger container. Moving her now will not make a strong rootball with lateral growth all through the container... you will end with a skinny root system that ends up mostly going up and down in the center of the next container with almost no lateral growth to the sides. The plant doesn't form an actual rootball unless you constrict her and make her do it. Staying in that solo cup until she shows you she has strong roots all through that cup is not going to hurt a thing. It may seem shocking to some of you, but I stay in the solo cup almost every time, all the way to the 5th node popping up, and it really seems to make the plants a lot stronger at the next stage to come out of the starting container with an actual root ball.

I appreciate the feedback, especially since I know our techniques vary a bit.
A few things I should mention-
I'm not in ProMix HP, I'm just in ProMix Potting Mix. It seems to drain well too, but I agree I keep my seedlings a bit on the wet side sometimes and would probably benefit from letting them dry a bit more.

Like I was saying, it's been a while since I up-potted anything. The last thing was my GelatOG auto clone about 9 months ago.
Before that was a few years ago, when I'd let my clones go about 3-4 weeks in the cup (to node 4ish)

I realize that seeing the roots at the bottom isn't actually the the indicator here, I definitely want them to fill the bottom of the cup first and the plant be more established before it's moved.
I was going to move this a bit early (monday) because I plan on flipping it at about 30-35 days, and wanted the roots to be established in the new pot before I did that.
The last photo I did (ChemDawg 4) was started in it's final pot, and flipped at 30 days right around when the autos started going naturally. Due to tent size, that's about as big as I wanted it. It yielded 7 oz or so, and that's fine by me.
This one will be in a pot twice that size, so I want to be careful it doesn't get so massive it becomes unmanageable.

I'm lucky and am here with my plants most days, so I'm able to watch closely as they express themselves and their desires. Plant language is my second language (everything except orchids lol) so I definitely listen when they are unhappy for too long, and take note of what does make them happy.

I do pretty well with some of my unconventional ways, but I'm always open to hear other opinions and techniques.

Thanks for being here to share.

Justin, you sound like a plant whisperer!

I'm more of a plant screamer myself. :laughtwo:

Just don’t be the plant killer and they’ll probably be fine :cheesygrinsmiley:
Speaking of that (quietly) congrats to you and Carcass for your recent success with the babies.

Just found this "post" hope you-all don't mind if I tag along !!!!!!!!!!! Great stuff
Of course, all are welcome here. Thanks for dropping in.
May as well do the update for today:
Starting with the little one. She’s still a lively mutant and seems to be in recovery though she’s still not really drinking
