420 Magazine's Official Girl Scout Cookies Comparative Grow By HashGirl

@HashGirl ..when are you moving the seedlings to the grow light?

Hopefully, today. Just giving my pain meds time to kick in before heading to the garden. However, my main priority today is just feeding the plants that need it so that will happen first. If my knee is still okay, I will do the transplants and move them into the tent. Otherwise, it may have to wait until tomorrow.

Success was achieved. All 4 GSCs have safely been transplanted to 1 gallon pots and have been put into the 4x4 tent in Veg. I gave them each about 250 ml of water to get them started.

Normally, when I transplant, I use the inverted sand pail method but since I had to prepare these pots ahead of time with the nutes, this morning, I scooped out about half the medium into a bigger pot, moved the plant from the solo cup and planted in the newly created space in the 1-gallon pot and then carefully poured the prepared medium from the big pot back into the 1-gallon pot. I did as Shed suggested and buried them up to their cotyledons. In fact, I buried one of them. Is that a problem?

I also staked #4 as it was falling over and am thinking about staking #3 as well.

Here are the photos:

Thanks for following along. If you see anything that needs mentioning, please feel free to do so.

Looks good! No issues from my perspective but others might have more advanced info. I often will bury any lengthy plants as deep as needed on transplants to keep them the structure and height I want. I have not noticed an issue. Keep it up!

They're not droopy, so they must be happy in their new homes!
I'd stake #3, as mentioned ....or sit it next to the wall, so it's got something to lean on... ;)

Might want to stake #3 since it's got some serious gangsta lean going on! Glad you were feeling well enough to get them transplanted and moved. :thumb:

Thanks, Shed. Yes, I will stake #3. I felt well enough then but my knee has been sore since then so tomorrow will be a light day.

On the plus side, my GP is referring me for a cortisone shot so hopefully, that will occur sooner rather than later.

#3 might be a great LST candidate. Already close to one side, be easy to tie it to the pot there and then bend the top back across the other side of the pot.

Thanks, Azimuth. I actually tried to plant all the GSCs to one side of the pot for exactly that purpose. When I LSTed DDA2 (in my winter grow), it was not planted in a spot that was conducive to easy LSTing but with Shed's help, I managed to do it but vowed that going forward, I would try to plant in order to ease LSTing.

Glad to hear you were able to feel better enough to finish the transplant. Sucks that you're still sore though. I hope the steroid shot helps for a while. Pain sucks...quite literally sucks the life out of ya. Looking forward to seeing your ladies fill out that container!

Up caning looks like it went well. Good job.

GL with the young ladies.

I love those #1 nursery pots I use them all the time. So easy to transplant out of and they are a bit taller than other pots that volume.

Congrats on your new MarsHydro lamp.

Thanks, bo and :welcome: to my journal.

In other news, I staked GSC3 as per the advice but I didn't take any pics because my knee is really sore today, which I kinda knew would happen since I spent more than an hour yesterday gardening.

 We are suckers for punishment. All I know is that you seem like me. No matter what I have to deal with (pain wise), I need to get my hands in the garden. Funny enough though that I was not having a good day yesterday and stayed put for most of it. I feel for ya. I don't mean to laugh at you. I'm laughing at myself.

I know. It's so strange. I wake up every morning and the first thing I think about is what I need to do with my garden. And, second thought is I want to catch up here.

This morning, I was thinking about FIMing lying in bed. :laughtwo:

So, the GSCs have been in their new homes for 2 days. Is it too soon to top them?

It is normally fine to top a few days after transplant. As long as they look healthy and don’t show signs of any issues from the transplant. I topped mine 2 days after.

Cookies from my experience dont get tall. Why top?

I thought the purpose of topping was to get more COLAs and therefore bigger yields?

That was exactly my plan, bo. This morning, I topped GSCs 2 and 4 and I Fimmed GSC3. I left GSC1 au naturel. Here are the photos. I never did any Fimming before so I hope it's right. I followed a diagram that Nebula Haze posted on her website.

They looked a little droopy today. I doubt they need water yet as I gave them each 250 ml when I transplanted them and the pots don't feel light yet.
