Girl Scout Cookies Update for Day 6 post sprout

Today marks the first day I broke out the @Prescription Blend nutrients and fed the little seedlings.

Now I'm not sure it would make a difference or not but being anal I chose not to take a chance of cross contamination of the different parts. Prescription Blend sends 1 pipette for each different bottle so I went ahead and numbered each of the foil nutrient bags and each of the pipettes. This way only pipette #1 goes into the Core-A foil bottle and so on.

So I went with a 1/2 gallon bottle which I filled 3/4 of the way to the top with of course water. I run off a well and have delicious water. I adjusted the temperature to 68 degrees because, well, I've always just done that. First I added approximately 3/4ml of the #1 Core-A to the bottle, put on the top and shook it like crazy. Next I added approximately 3/4ml of the #2 Core-B and again shook it really well. Finally I added approximately 1ml of #3 Kelp-Ful to the bottle and shook it all up very thoroughly. With all the ingredients mixed up I then balanced the nutrient feed to 6.50 ph. Each plant was fed 100ml which was applied as a ring approx. 2' diameter around the stalk.

Task complete I am left with two questions for Matthew @Prescription Blend .

What do I do with the unused portion of mixed nutrients? Does it store till next watering/feeding?

Second question concerns silicon/silica of which I use a product in addition to my usual nutrients. I like strong healthy branches that can hold the weight of the buds with a lot of bamboo poles and hangers. Does Prescription Blend have the silicon/silica needed to accomplish this?

Thank you Matthew for your time and answering these questions. Have you considered setting up a journal of your own on your sponsor page where all questions can be answered in one place?
To answer your first question, yes you can store the extra nutrient to use next time. Best to use within a week if you don’t keep it aerated. If you use a bubble stone or pump in the nutrient tank you can keep it for longer. 2weeks is generally recommended but some growers keep the same res tank for a long time and just top off with water/nutrient as it gets used such as autopot systems.

Second question about silica, yes we include a silica component in Bio-Si. We use multiple silica sources including the standard potassium silicate but we also use silica that is derived from plant material like rice hills that naturally accumulated silica during growth. We also add amino acids to form soluble complexes with silica helping to keep it in solution and bioavailabile.

We have setup a discussion thread where people can ask questions and we can give info. Your welcome to repost these questions there and I’ll respond in that thread or whatever you prefer. Here is a link.

Thanks a lot Matthew, being able to store it for a week is huge especially when the plants are young.

I would love it if I could get your link moved towards the beginning of my journal where I did my unveiling of the Prescription Blend nutrients. Is this something you can do @Renee Roberts ?

Journal update for today 4/19/21 for the Girl Scout Cookies plants

They are at day 9 post sprout today. I have to say I am a little disappointed with the seeming lack of vigor with these four girls. I am asking myself is this because I went from the perlite straight into a 3/4 gallon size pot? Because normally I would have gone from the perlite into a solo cup till it was time to up-pot into a 3/4 gallon pot. What do ya'll think?

Are they just making roots below ground and that's why they're not producing leaves above ground? Cause I can't see even the beginnings of the second set of permanent leaves on any of these plants.

Temps are good 79-84 degrees
Humidity in the 75 +/- 5% range

So it has to be that I skipped the solo cups?

Hope everyone had a most enjoyable weekend and that your week is even better.

I agree the roots could be off searching the near by areas of interest. Courious buggers have no interest to what's going on up top. As long as they have a large playground to romp around in.

Since you mixed in a bottle and its not going to be aerated during storage it's best to give it a good shake before using it again. That will help get some oxygen back into the solution before you use it on the plants (roots like O2)

@Prescription Blend Matthew I don't think this has anything to do with nutrients at this point. I normally wouldn't start feeding a seedling until the second set of permanent leaves was fully out.

I think your assessment is right. Normally in a solo cup a seedling can produce enough root mass to drain the cup in just a week or less.. doesn’t surprise me that in larger containers they’re focused on below ground growth for a good bit longer.

Ah so it's just not me . They seemed like they were finding their feet. But after a couple of weeks was like um grow? Went and got come cal mag at the hydro joint today and been babying them. See if they start taking off soon. Mine showed their heads 4/11. I did make a few rookie mistakes at some point. Bloom light was on for a couple of weeks instead of veg. RH has been around 42 but i mist the substrate a couple of times a day. Got some proper nutes going now see how they react, Hope they start taking off this week.:bong:

Weak nutrients right now. Hoping that one can catch up to the other three so I can up the nutrients and feed them all the same thing. I'll be darned if I'll make a special mix just for the one plant.

Update for today 4/22/21
The girls are at 12 days post sprout today. Slow going here. I snapped a picture of each of the four plants.
Mine are a little slow taking off too. I think I had a PH issue but now not so sure if that is the problem.
