420 Magazine's Official Girl Scout Cookies Comparative Grow By Beez0404

Looks like cruise control to me! You really have sorted out the Rx Blend system from the looks of it. :thumb:
Looking at the pics I can't disagree, they seem to be solidly back on track! Glad that I was able to offer advice but I have to give 100% credit to @beez0404 and this is why....

Growers (generally) have a tendency to get stuck in their ways, so stepping outside your comfort zone and trying something new is a thing in and of it self. But, when this new thing gives results that don't stack up to what has happened in the past most growers would very quickly conclude that it was the obvious change that produced this result and not look any further.

I have to give beez credit for

1. being open to trying a change (investing the time to begin with)

2. being open to questions when issues came up

3. being open to learning about how to test the media pH/reporting the result and that the mix was off the intended ratio

4. taking advice from someone unknown (me)

5. most importantly sticking with it through all the times the tent was opened and the first peek of foliage was not lush and healthy

6. not making assumptions etc.

That said, I'll also say a few things that relate to me personally. As someone who used this forum (reader only, didn't have a membership) back when I was learning basics ~20 yrs ago and starting my own gardens I appreciate that members here have historically been willing to share their success and also the issues/resolutions that they have found. This helped me a lot and brought me to a place that I felt comfortable trying new things, experimenting and finding what worked. Fast forward..... extremely happy to be here and be able to give back!

Honestly though, many people here know the emotional rush of having a good harvest, many also know what it's like to be able to share that with people they care for, some know what it feels like to help/advise someone to achieve those things and when I see that something I made with my own hands helps someone do those things, well.. its like nothing else in the world. That's what drives my passion.

What I really think should be highlighted here is that given the lessons learned about slurry testing @beez0404 is going to have a media mix that is on point and the next grow is going to be something to watch also! (maybe it will be another GSC run)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL WHO QUALIFY

Awww shucks fellas!! Ya'll had me blushing here. Thanks @Prescription Blend, @InTheShed, @cr8grow, @Furcifer, @Kismet , and especially @Mywife without whom none of this would be possible. Now back to business.

Girl Scout Cookies Update for day 9 since flip

Well the girls are starting to really fill out the tent now. I fed them all yesterday and added 4ml of Cal-Mag and 10ml of Turpinator. I'm starting to get low on the Kelp-Ful having had the bottle fall on the floor. But fortunately I won another kit in nugget of the month recently so I can break into that kit for more if I run out. I love that stuff too (the kelp-ful) it just has that "it's got to be good stuff" smell to it. And don't tell @Prescription Blend but I borrowed 5ml of the Core-A, Core-B and Kelp-Ful and fed it to my favorite house plant and she loved it. A big step up for her regular diet of well water. If you're interested in trying out the Prescription Blend Nutrients lineup in an upcoming grow you can read all about them here Prescription Blend | Plant Food for Medical Gardens

A big shout out to our sponsor @Weed Seeds Express who is having a Buy One Get One free sale for Father's Day. You can find that sale here. Buy weed seeds @ Weedseedsexpress | Marijuana seeds for sale

And finally I want to talk briefly about the light I'm using in this grow. I have not been growing cannabis for very long, maybe for about four years. In that time I have grown plants start to finish under fluorescent lights, stepping up to CFL lights, and the huge step to Blurple lights (which I still use by the way) and finally up to QB lights. When @Mars Hydro asked me if I would like to try one of their new FC-4800 lights for the Girl Scout Cookies Comparative grow I was elated to say the least. I did a lot of reading about the light, most of which I did not and still do not understand. But what I do understand is that the FC-4800 fills my grow tent with light from corner to corner. I LOVE the dimmer switch which has allowed me to adjust the light intensity as opposed to having to raise and lower the light. But for me what sets this light apart is the ability to mount the driver outside the tent. Mars Hydro provides you with a power cord long enough to locate the driver out of the tent. The light fixture itself produces very little heat. I am amazed at how little heat. I have had some very good quality QB lights in the past and still do but with the quality of light the FC-4800 produces evenly filling the tent with light, the greatly reduced heat level inside the tent, the So useful dimmer switch this light will never come out of this tent. Okay so maybe I wasn't so brief.

Here are some Father's Day photos of the girls taken just this morning. The Durban leaning girl is now in the front left. Everyone was rotated 1/4 turn during feeding yesterday although with this light I don't think it's necessary.

Here is the Durban leaner.

A shot of the right side.

And some family shots. Any suggestions or ideas how to help the smallish plant in the back left corner? I would love to see her catch up to the others.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or does the Durban leaner look to be flowering faster?
The Durban leaner is indeed ahead of the others with regard to flowering. She's off and running.

I think the Rx Blend system was fine all along. My homemade medium left something to be desired but thanks to you @InTheShed that will eventually be a thing of the past. Matthew at @Prescription Blend was ever so helpful making some small changes to their feeding chart which really seemed to help the plants. Face it, it's been a total team effort with the whole village helping out and being supportive. We call that "The 420 Magazine Way"

A stool, step ladder or a couple of encyclopedias might boost her stature!

Happy daddy day!
:green_heart:

What I mean is the plant in the back left is smaller then the others. Wondering if there is anything to be done to get her to catch up in size to the other three. I was looking these plants over real well this afternoon and am noticing that the Durban leaning plant is going to be more to my liking in that it doesn't look like it's going to be one of those real bushy/leafy plants.

Hey that's Daddy's little girl I can't talk mean to her. I was thinking maybe a little extra kelp meal or a bit of EWC spread out on the top of her soil.

Hi Beez! Your plants are gorgeous. :thumb:

Is she Durban leaning because of her thinner leaves? I’ve got four going as well and have 2 phenotypes of each, I believe. Two with giant, far leaves and two with thinner, sativa-ish leaves. I’m only growing one indoors though. Hoping to fill my 2x4 with her. I’m interested in switching over to Prescription blend in flower and it was recommended I check out yours. I’m glad I did! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hey @BooWho2 the leaner has two characteristics that for me make it different in appearance. First as you pointed out the longer thinner leaves. The second thing I notice is the amount of leaves on the Durban leaner compared to the other three. She has quite a few less leaves, is more open then the other girls.

I honestly believe you can't go wrong with the @Prescription Blend line of nutrients. Even before the grow began I was wary stepping out of my comfort zone. And when the grow got going and things weren't working out so well of course I was ready to blame the nutrients as the problem. But with some good help and guidance I discovered it was my medium that was the problem and not the Prescription Blend. Matthew is a gem to work with and replies back in a timely manner.

Now that everything is on course and moving smoothly my only complaint about Prescription Blend is the number of components that have to be measured out for each bottle/jug/tub of nutrients you mix up. It really doesn't take all too long to add the 6 ingredients but be sure to get yourself a system. Bottles on the right still have to be added. Bottles on the left have already been added. My only recommendation to you would be keep an eye on my grow or those of others also using the Rx Blend and see how the plants fare through flowering.

I agree with having a system when mixing. First thing I did was put the components in 1 liter F style containers. The original containers were too flimsy for me. (It's my understanding @Prescription Blend has already made a change in the containers for all new shipments.) Then I set them up in a tray with their own syringe (Big Data was just recently added and I ran out of Velcro.) I pull one out at a time and go in order so I know which has been used and which has not. The last two are Cal-Mag and Terpinater.

Well look at you go boy! My OCD other half is loving your setup. I think the second or third time I mixed the Rx Blend nutes the Kelp-Ful fell over and landed on the tile floor. Fortunately it landed on the open spout instead of the side of the bag cause I have a feeling if it had I would have cleaned up a lot more then 1/4 of the bag. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to crack into my Rx Blend kit I won for nugget of the month to carry me through to the end of the GSC run.

Thanks for sharing your marvelous and so workable idea.

Since it's father's day, I'd give it a stern talking to. Other than that, blame its mother's side of the family!
LMAO!

Plants are coming along nice, everyone seems to be transitioning. I'm starting to think maybe you've got a 3rd pheno there? all 3 of the nondurb phenos looked about in stride until that last set of photos. or maybe I'm wrong.

I am really careful with the Kelp-ful. Looks and smells like great stuff but I wouldn't want to spill it.

Thank goodness I got it up quick and it didn't stain the tile.
