Nice to see a fresh list of names :thumb:

I did make a nomination of a member to 420 girl this month & that their name is on the list for voting, i also made another nomination a few months ago which also appeared on the voting list over the last few months...

So ye, i'm only a member who has made two nominations this year since the MOTM change but both names have been selected by 420 staff for voting :cheertwo:

So i don't really get what all the flapping is about that members can not nominate other members for the contest, when was the last time you made a nomination or did you even bother to try ?

:Namaste:

I vote every month. I just can't bring my self to vote on people I do not know. I will try to search the forum so I can get to know you and your work. I do want to wish you all the best of luck, it is a great honor to be member of the month. Knowing the staff nomonated you for this honor I know you have done something great in/for the forum. :goodjob:

Thanks for the nom guys. I am just a guy with a passion for the plant. I dont do this shit to make money or make people like me. I absolutely love horticulture now and it is opening new doors everyday for me. Peace and many blessings to all on this beautiful skunk day.

So i don't really get what all the flapping is about

for the first 15 days there were like 3 posts to this thread while the POTM and NOTM threads were very active. Do you remember how this thread used to be? ... for me the flapping is about the loss of activity.

Hey spiffy, you may already do this, might help out others who read. Few months back a member (sorry I forget who posted this) showed me how to search posts with ease for MOTM, simply find a post from the nominees above, hover over the name of the person you are wanting to search and click, should open up a second box with options, next click the "View Forum Posts" tab, allows you quick links to their posts. Then deciphering the info, cast vote, pack bowl, medicate! :joint:

Yes i clearly remember what the MOTM contest was like !

Whether it served the community as intended back then is another question at hand !

Hence the changes where made so that some of the more less recognized members who put in a lot of valid work into forums may gain a chance of the title... than the case of popularity, in some ways the new changes have worked in favour to get the less noticed members gain recognition !

But it does sadden me that MOTM has become less active since the changes where made ? perhaps the majority of the community has not fully embraced the changes to make the contest more FAIR !

After all the changes where made to see if the contest serves the community as intended, other wise we may see MOTM totally abolished... & i suspect that hard decision will be made in the next 6 months !

If the case is popularity being the I WIN BUTTON then we will more likely say good bye to MOTM...

Than rather supporting the fundamental aspects of this contest by the following...

Specifically, we're looking to thank those members that help and support our site in so many under recognized ways, such as:

  • Greeting new members
  • Helping people with questions
  • Peacemakers
  • Activism efforts
  • Promoting our sponsors
  • Activity and content generation
  • Reporting violations

::thankyou:

CA215,
Yes that is how I planned on researching the nominees this month. I do believe that these guys are very worthy and I will vote just might take me a week or so (due to work and school) to figure out which one I will be voting for. I might just learn something new during all of this. I think I like the new contest rules. This gives members a chance to get to know people they would have never talked to. It can also give members more resources to learn about different methods of growing, different strains, and diversity in who they talk to on the forum.

i actually know two of the nominees and i know of one other.... even with my recommendation making the list, it was a tough call as all three of the nominees i know/know of have helped me along the way.. best of luck to everyone

Hey Shotafire :ciao: I'm getting to know everyone before I vote :)

Normally there is someone there whom I know already

and I decide who has helped me, or another member the most, or whatever.

This month I'll be checking out the other nominees

It gets me out of the wardrobe for a spell, I suppose :nomo:

I would encourage others to do the same :reading420magazine:

You have a beautiful grow, Shota.

Your 12th Generation MoG (Meadow of Green) deserves to win all the prizes :adore:

Fuzzy Duck

I respect the thought to try to make this play to a wider field and be less of a popularity contest but this one IS a popularity contest :cheesygrinsmiley: I have made a suggestion that the POTM and NOTM entries are just shown as images until the contest is over then have the names revealed. This would help mitigate the popularity thing on the front channel anyway for those contests. The problem with the MOTM is that worthy folks were not getting nominated. I like the idea of the staff being actively involved, heck they should each make a nomination every month!... but "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink" What it would do is highlight the folks the staff would like you to know are out there, I know I check entries out.

So what about a mix of some sort?

Not all nominations are used, I know that for certain.

Glad to hear your horses got on the track though, good guys will pick other good deserving guys I'm sure.

Thing is, Fuzzy, The Staff are better placed than anyone else to make nominations,

as they have an overview of the forums that is impossible for us mere mortals.

You may think that they are offline, or whatever, but they are always there,

keeping 420Land free from evil kitchen Spam and other dangers to our well-being.

They see all posts and threads from a neutral, guide-lined standpoint.

You can recommend whoever you like in private,

but you will only ever nominate or vote for your "friends"

So the people who choose the nominees should be people without "friends"

and have a general and informed overview of the site and it's values as a whole,

not just the "Bubble of subs" that most of us here exist in :)

I have nominated two people before...both were worthy.....and both made it into the contest. Everyone here knows I love you all...BUT, I will make an informed choice based on the criteria presented. This is a huge honor to me, the contest, and I owe it to the site, the members, and the cannabis to make as non biased a choice as possible. Good luck to all.................and if a nominee thinks that they did the best....they owe it to all of us to vote for themselves..........they all know their contributions....and those of their competitors.
