420 Magazine Sponsored Grow Extravaganza Featuring NextLight Mega, GeoFlora Nutes & More!

Sorry guys, I was incorrect. It's 16 weeks of veg and bloom and not 8 in a #10.

In a #10, you feed 8 oz. (half a pound) per feeding, so four pounds gives 8 feedings. But, you feed every two weeks (the calculation I failed to make originally!) so it takes 16 weeks to do the 8 feedings. Sorry for the confusion! :nerd-with-glasses:
Yay!!! Even better. :thumb:

Just ordered this:

It was cheaper than the Kill-a-Watt and had better reviews! ;)

It should be here Saturday and I'll let you know where we end up.
So, this arrived today. I've got it plugged into the main power supply of the tent since it's more advantageous to track the total electricity cost of the grow. Right now, lights are off but the exhaust fan and two circulation fans are still running and it's showing 15.8w which is actually pretty low compared to what I expected with the three fans going.

I'll check it when lights are on and the difference between then and now should account for the wattage the light is running at since that's the only thing in the tent on a timer.

Note: I did turn the light intensity up a couple of days ago when I flipped to 12/12.

DAY #3 OF 12/12

Today is the third day of 12/12 and the girls know something is up. They're starting to stretch and the new growth is getting that bright lime green color signifying the beginning of flowering.

The first pic is under the NextLight Mega and the other two are natural light:

Now, let's talk about that meter I purchased....

There's either a problem with it, a problem with the light/dimmer, or a problem with me. If I had to guess, right now, I'd say the problem is me! :D

The meter showed 15.8 watts last night with lights out and just the three fans running. I mentioned that this was lower than I expected and also mentioned that I had cranked up the intensity of the light when I flipped to 12/12.

Well, when lights went back on this morning, I checked the meter and it showed it was drawing only 141w from the wall! :thedoubletake:

This can't be possible and, just to check it, I cranked the dimmer switch to full power, checked the meter and it showed it was drawing only 147w! :thedoubletake::thedoubletake::thedoubletake:

At full power, this light should be around 650w and, FWIW, I can tell that it's got to be putting out a lot more than 150w worth of light and right now, temps are a little on the high side. I just don't know, yet, why it's measuring so low and really need to play with it a little. :hmmmm:

First step will be to take the dimmer out of the picture and next, plug the light directly into the dimmer to take all the fans out of the picture. Finally, if the numbers are still screwy, I'll take the power strip out of the picture.

However, before I do any of that, I should probably read the manual to make sure I have the meter setup and am reading it correctly!

I'll update when I have better info on this!

Happy Harvests!

DAY #5 OF 12/12

Not much has changed since the last update. The girls are still healthy & happy and continuing the stretch. I've raised the lights another foot and have about another foot left and, so far, it looks like I'll be fine.

Here are a few group pics:

As you can see from above, it's impossible to tell, at this point, where one plant ends and the next one begins but, roughly speaking....

This is the Mendocino Purple Kush:

This is the Platinum Cake:

This is the Dark Ghost Train (not a great pic - sorry! :sorry: ):

And, this is the Tropicanna Cookies x Slurricane:

As far as the Kill-a-Watt knock-off, I did read the manual and the issue isn't me. I haven't had any time to play with it, yet, to try to narrow down the issue and it hasn't been a big concern since, as I mentioned previously, I'm confident there's good light in the tent (I have the dimmer cranked up to about 90%, or more). The heat alone tells me its a lot more than 150w and really think it's the meter since, assuming it is more than 150w, I don't see how it's possible that the meter is reading lower than the actual draw unless it's a faulty meter.

More coming soon!

Happy Harvests!

When I grow up I want to produce plants like yours!

They are just bursting with good colour and health.

Happy plants give me life, and I don’t just mean weed, I mean plants in general.

Plants are looking good, Mr. Krip. Sorry about your meter; it is frustrating paying for things that don't work plus I was really interested in what your wattage would be. I had tested out my MegaLight with my meter before and I remembered it was around 650 W max but I just tried it again and took a pic. I think the fact it's not quite 650 W is probably not the driver but a little bit of inefficiency in the controller I am using so I wouldn't doubt if it really is 650 W if wired directly.

I must sound like a broken record but I was really curious what wattage you run at because I think I am going to get a record harvest at under 200 W at 24" and that thing pumps out 650 W so I was really curious where you end up since I need so little power with it for a good harvest. Good luck.

DAY #7 OF 12/12 - STARTIN' TO STRETCH

I went to bed last night, after feeding the plants earlier with an increased dose of Purpinator, thinking I should have let the girls veg another week since, up to then, the stretch had really been minimal. When I woke up this morning, it looked like the plants grew 2"-3" overnight! :meatballs:

I don't think the Purpinator caused the stretch, by any means, but it was just time to up the dose of the Purpinator and it was finally time for the plants to start stretching! :D

They're all still incredibly healthy & happy with pistils starting to pop.

Here are today's pics:

Looks great Krip. I got way too much stretch on my BG41 again. Good thing that I saw that coming but still I would prefer a longer distance between my lights and canopy. Headroom problem can be overwhelming, I hope these won't stretch more than you think. Transition weeks are the most exciting weeks on a plants lifecycle for me :passitleft:
