We did not view marijuana as a significant health problem, as it was not. Nobody dies from marijuana. Marijuana smoking, in fact, if one wants to be honest, is a source of pleasure and amusement to countless millions of people in America, and it continues to be that way. - Peter Bourne, President Carter's Drug Czar - PBS Frontline: Drug Wars, October 2000
They might have a temporary reprieve, but pain stricken Canadians who grow their own medical marijuana say they could soon face a difficult choice, go without the weed they need or break the law to get it. A Federal Court judge recently granted an injunction that allows thousands of patients to continue cultivating their own marijuana at home, or designate someone to grow it for them, at least until their legal challenge of planned new rules can be argued more fully. Medical marijuana users can grow at home, for now but the federal government is determined to change the system, even if Tuesday's full fledged launch will be delayed.
Hempseed can be pressed for its highly nutritious vegetable oil, which contains the highest amount of essential fatty acids in the plant kingdom. These essential oils are responsible for our immune responses and clear the arteries of cholesterol and plaque. - Jack Herer
"I think we should legalize Marijuana, tax and monitor, farm Hemp etc, this would make our borders less corrupt and then I think eventually this will be more secure option and save children in the long run. We should be able to farm Hemp in America, it's just silly, it would create jobs and be good for environment" - Pamela Anderson

"There are no long lasting ill effects from the acute use of marijuana and no fatalities have ever been recorded, there seems to be growing agreement within the medical community, at least, that marijuana does not directly cause criminal behavior, juvenile delinquency, sexual excitement, or addiction." - Dr J. H. Jaffe, The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics. L.Goodman and A Gillman, 3rd edn. 1965
Juicing Raw Cannabis produces non-psychoactive acidic Cannabinoids. It's medicinal at lower doses than heated preparations because constituents have an Entourage effect when they act synergistically. 90% of the medicinal constituents are destroyed with heat, such as terpenoids, which can greatly prolong the amount of time a Cannabinoid affects our body.
In 1970, when weed was a felony to even think about, when Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack men drank and caroused from the stage nightly in Vegas, the Divine Ms. S, Barbara Streisand, was miffed. If they could party from the stage, why couldn't she? During one of her shows, Babs lit up, smoked a joint right there in the main room, saying, and I'm paraphrasing here, "It smoked like butter." Later on, rock and Motown groups would turn Barbra on to the newest grass available, forming a road bond that few in the public ever knew about.
Hempseed was regularly used in porridge, soups, and gruels by virtually all the people of the world up until this century. Monks were required to eat hempseed dishes three times a day, to weave their clothes with it and to print their Bibles on paper made with its fiber. - Jack Herer
A lot of theories and misconceptions have been brought up when it comes to Cannabis, better known as Marijuana, about it's uses and general effect on the human body. General opinion, just like in every sector of the world, is male dominated and it does not shock me to notice that the dominance and matter of opinion about it, has little to do with any female driven influence on their health issues. Health Issues like PMS or PMDD, Menopause are still alienated in the Cannabis world and little has been done for women to reap the benefits of Marijuana as a relief component. This is a list of the different kinds of Marijuana (Cannabis strains) with the hope that it gives some insight on the oversight to women's Cannabis needs. They are Purple Urkle, Black Cherry Cheesecake, Dutch Treat, Obama Kush and Blue Dream. - Netherlands lab pictured
Women in the Cannabis movements are part of the female voices becoming more prominent in the fight against marijuana prohibition. Women are traditionally the caretakers and caregivers in families, and women are speaking out about how this prohibition tears apart families. Mother bears and tiger mothers have been celebrated in our culture for their ferocious defense of their young. Now mothers, daughters and sisters are standing up to protect their families in the War on Drugs. - Metro Times
In 1929, Pauline Sabin founded the Women's Organization for National Prohibition Reform, which had 100,000 members within a year, by the time Prohibition was repealed in 1933, it boasted 1.5 million members. That's something politicians pay attention to. A more recent example of women's power to bring change is Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Since MADD was founded in 1980, the organization claims to have cut drunk driving by 50 percent. The group was involved in lowering the standard blood alcohol level for driving to .08 percent and helped create tougher drunk driving sanctions across the nation. If women marijuana activists are as successful as those ladies, the terrain around here will be significantly different for marijuana users. There's already evidence. Washington state's legalization effort was led by Alison Holcomb. And the weed world recognized broadcast journalist Cheryl Chodun of WXYZ as an outstanding activist at the 2013 Hempfest. Chodun is working to pass the Ohio Cannabis Rights Amendment. The buds or flowers of the female cannabis plant are the part prized by marijuana users, medical or otherwise. That's where the highest concentration of THC, CBD and other healthy impact cannabinoids are found. Maybe paying more attention to the females of our own species can have a healthy impact. Cherish the ladies, and pay attention to them. - Metro Times
Global political and business leaders are talking seriously about ending marijuana prohibition everywhere from D.C. to Davos. Recent polls say a majority of Americans are in favor of legalizing marijuana, and not just in the states you'd expect but even in Missouri, Indiana, Texas, Florida and Louisiana. In Washington State, Colorado and the country of Uruguay, marijuana is now legally regulated, not to mention the twenty states and D.C. that have implemented medical marijuana laws since 1996. Comments about the overuse of tired old stoner images have popped up recently onBloomberg TV, Huffington Post and Forbes. Most recently, Pulitzer Prize winning New York Times reporter Matt Richtel took to Twitter to call out his own paper for using a stereotypical image (literally of Cheech & Chong) for an otherwise serious story about scientific studies on marijuana's impact on driving skills. I can't even count the number of times I've cringed while watching a serious news segment about the national debate over marijuana policy become overshadowed by relentless footage of guys wearing head to toe marijuana leaf accessories and tie dye while ripping bong hits at a 420 fest. Similarly, Sheryl Sandberg and Getty Images recently partnered on a similar project to provide non-sexist stock images of women at work, ones that don't look like outtakes from Mad Men. - The Huffington Post
Uruguayans will be able buy up to 10 grams of pot a week, enough to roll 20 joints, under new rules governing the recently legalized marijuana trade in the country. About 20,000 of the 3.3 million people who live in Uruguay are estimated to use marijuana every day. Mujica is expected to sign off on the rules in coming days. He proposed the landmark legalization law to undermine drug trafficking. Uruguay, the first country to legalize the growing and sale of marijuana, is being closely watched by other countries debating drug liberalization. - Ya Libnan
From 1842 through the 1890s, extremely strong marijuana (then known as cannabis extractums) and hashish extracts, tinctures and elixirs were routinely the second and third most used medicines in America for humans (from birth, through childhood, to old age) and in veterinary medicine until the 1920s and longer. - Jack Herer
Mark your calendars for the 5th Annual Hemp History Week — June 2 to 8, 2014. It's Time to Grow. Every day, more and more Americans discover the benefits of hemp. This ever expanding market includes healthy food and body care products, as well as eco friendly textiles, clothing, auto parts, and building materials. But despite hemp's growing popularity, an outdated and misguided Federal policy, created in the 1930s, currently prevents U.S. farmers from growing this nutritious, versatile, and eco friendly crop. It is time for Federal policy on industrial hemp to reflect today's reality and ensure a better tomorrow for America's families and farmers, the economy and our planet. It's Time to Grow!
OCD is a panic recognized by wide spread thoughts that produce discomfort and fear or worry, by continuing habits targeted at reducing the associated anxiety, or by a variety of such obsessions and compulsions. Continual hand washing is a typical OCD symptom. The kids whom are all affected by OCD will wash their hands continuously due to the fear of germs. By feeding medical cannabis along with food, OCD can be cured. ADHD is a developmental problem. It is recognized mainly by the co-existence of attention issues with each action happening rarely alone. Kids with ADHD find it more challenging to concentrate and to finish their schoolwork. Problems in doing silent works or activities, being regularly in motion, problems sitting still while eating and school time, talking continuously without break. These are all some of the symptoms of ADHD in children. These problems can be cleared by giving medical marijuana to kids with their foods, snacks and drinks. These are only 2 of the problems kids have that can be helped by medical marijuana.
