3rd Hydro Grow First Journal

Looks good, im going to be transplanting in a few days to DWC. So ill be keeping up with your posts. Why did you switch over to flowering so soon? Does that strand explode in flowering?

A few reasons. I don't have a lot of space to grow in and I am trying not to grow trees just dense nugs because I only use cfls and I try to keep the light as close as possible. In my past grows I have said I need to flower sooner because when you start flowering the plant still grow a considerable amount as well as uneven growth. I don't have the appropriate lighting to grow big plants so I don't try, the buds come out fluffy. I wish I could grow trees man I would and maybe some day will :thumb:

damn that does hurt, i pay 350 an oz thats why i started growin in the first place but i just dont yield enough to keep me supplied till next harvest, thats why i am considering 2L Hempys

Yea I can get some other stuff that isn't really picture worthy but it is still great nugs for that.

Yeah i dont have alot of room either, I was more curious than anything especially if im running a DWC i dont want to run out of room. Ill probably end up doing that same thing or trying some LST or Topping i have more room to grow out then up.

Oh and im a horticulture major so i dig your major :high-five:

Awesome! Yea I am planing on graduating in December and going to try to take nothing but botany classes from here out. I do bend my plants and last time I bent and bent then finally started flowering after a good month and when they started flowering the growth still got out of control.

Update! Just pics I'll let them speak for themselves

I haven't had to raise my lights but once so think about these wide plants that aren't even 8inches tall yet. They definitely look good, I just have a small algae problem and I'm pretty sure it is from our water. Lights just went out on the 4th day of flowering. Not showing sex yet but they are feminized seeds. Gave them 3/4 of a dose just waiting for them to show that sex then I will probably start with the bloom nutes. So I probably wont end up giving them a full dose of of veg nute before they start getting bloom nutes.

Yeah, I you saw my algae problem last night vic, and we have the same water. I wiped everything clean though today when I did a res change.

Yea my lower nodal branches are coming to the top pretty fast. The extra air stone is something I am glad I invested in, it seems to be really helping those roots grow. and their weekly air bath always leads to an explosion of growth. I love growing hydroponic method

Update time. Got some yellowing on the first pics pretty sure its due to algae. Gettin hot down where I'm at! No signs of sex yet but it hasn't been too too long sense I started flowering. Not even adding bloom nutes yet.

nice man they look really healthy! Nice tight node growth, Rootball looks sexy as fuck.

Id suggest cutting back your PPM or giving it a flush. i know that was just a slight yellowing but it could turn into a problem if you dont watch it carefully!

How many days into your grow are you? i dont remember if you were still in veg or flowering.

Started flowering on March 4th. They sprouted around Feb. 12th. What I don't understand is that the yellowing is only happening to one plant. I don't have a ppm meter and never have. If it was something like res temp and algae both plants would be affected.

Did a res change last night found a bunch of little white flies in my res. Hit them with some peroxide water solution and added some peroxide to the res. Going to watch them closely. Another thing I added was a bowl of distilled white vinegar to attract the bugs from the plants to their death. Pics to come later today I was just too much in shock of the bugs to remember to snap photos last night. Advice on the little white fly problem if you have any

I haven't ran into that issue yet, I just moved into a DIY box and its inside a closet so hopefully I wont. Over skimming through forums I've read that SNS and those yellow sticky fly traps work well. People have come up with some home made foliar sprays(h202, dish soap, tobacco juice, etc.) I would try to diagnose exactly what the insects are and go from there. After all its un-economical to have to spray more than once if you can help it. Good luck mate kill those little boogers or just infest your grow space with praying mantis's

Anyways heres a link with some info/links

Check out my dwc grow in my sig I would like your input :)

These are pics from tonight's res change the 25th day of flower. The weeks they just role by.
First up the roots. The one on the left had some root rot so it got a trim. The rot was from over treatment with hydrogen peroxide but all the gnats are dead. The one on the right though did not get such a harsh treatment and is looking fine with new root growth after the treatment. Also both plants showed some nute burn on the tops so only half dose of bloom this time.

These are close ups of he one on the left. The yellowing is from the root rot.

After adding the water pump back into the res (without the feeding tubes) the algae is nowhere to be seen, just circulating the water. i am going to add in some netting to keep the canopy uniform. I will keep you posted, please let me know what you think.
