300w LED Organic Soil Closet Grow First Grow Journal

I have a question, with my P1 parents who are stabilized can I do 12/12 from seed to sex them and hopefully find males and females or should i grow them out? I know that with the ensuing generations will need to be grown out to find the differences between them.

It would be hard to tell which males and females are good unless you grow them out so that you can make your F2. You need to select the best ones to stabilize the genetics. If you just throw them 12/12 you will not have a good idea how they perform in veg or pest resistance. So it is best to veg them out and take clones for sexing. You can take fresh clones and run them 12/12 while they are rooting. :)

I was thinking that because these are three stable strains and consitant I already know what they will be and which set of characteristics I will want. The major reason I went with HGF was because of how long these strains have been around and have been perfected for consistency. My original theory on this was thatby having the pure consistent strains as the parents I can focus more of my grow time one the F1s. There is only 2 things that are going to throw a monkey wrench in my plan and that would be the the PPP being all female.

The problem with crossing is that at times a recessive gene can be exposed thus complicating things. That is why it should be grown out.

Ya i guess i never thought about that and plus the recessive trait could be something amazing. I had a plant once that was just a random seedling that when flowered had pink hairs until about the last week of flowering when the turned blood red, it was prolly one of the most amazing things I had ever grown. The problem is that about 4 weeks in it would almost completely stop resin production and start to hermie and get seeds evrywhere lol its off spring had the same problem so in the end we scraped the project lol. I have a picture of it in my member gallery but its hard to see the color of the hairs.

Tac is there any other journals you could maybe point me too that helped you in your breeding?

Well BID has done some breeding and is currently working on some now in his current journal. Also there is a great amount of information in the Everything you need to Know thread. I will get you links in the tomorrow.

Well my new beans are stateside and almost to their new loving home where they will be loved and cared for and genetically crossed into something that brings grown men to their knees (except for my knees because I probably wouldnt be able to get up) lol im also getting a bonus NL x BB fem bean and that in itself has also tickled my fancy so to speak.

That is awesome. I have some beans that will hopefully be delivered in the next day or 2. I am receiving a bunch of neat freebie and some Blue Dream and Mango packs.

Hey G13,
Im subbed in mate. Love a bit of soil ha. If you want to speed up the seedling growth then take the cups off, seedlings dont really need humidity domes or propergators thats more for cuttings. They do like high humidity still but just spray them and let them have the light , they will grow faster then. Maybe thats why one stumpy.

Another reason some plants grow tiny to start is when you compact the crap out of the soil so the roots struggle to break it, I did this once over 10 years ago, first plant. It had like 6 nodes in 1 inch of growth lol. Not saying you done any of this just a bit of info on small seedlings.

O blue dream always near the top of my list of favorites, will you be starting a new journal? if so let me know when because i def want to see them take off. L

I am not sure when I will launch the blue dream. I will definitely let you know when I do though as it is also a favorite strain of mine.

I apologize for all the un-updates i havent been giving lol i got the flu and missed work and have been workin overtime to catch back up, so that left little time for updating but i have time and am in the process of uploading right now.

So in the last weeks i have repotted because the soil wasnt draining well at the bottom of the pot and also the soil temp was very cold(60-65) and i believe that also had something to do with the lackluster growth. While repotting i also checked for root rot and found none (thank goodness). So now the plants are making great strides and have been recovering nicely, also i placed a heater in the closet to combat the cold soil and i think that has aided in the recory as well. As for feeding i really havent been feeding much just some BioRoot at 3/4 strength.

i also started my 4 afghani, 4 hindu and 4 Purple seeds that i recieved from herbies. all but one of the hindu came up so i was very pleased with that. the seedlings are just under a week from breaking the soil so i wont share any pics of them because if youve seen one small seedling youve seen them all lol. but they are very happy. also i am not running my 300 right now because i believe it may have something faulty in it because it flickers continuously so i have my 2 90watt UFOs and they are doing great.

Glad to hear you are felling better. Sounds like the garden is doing well. Looking forward to the pics. :)

This is by far the strangest plant ive ever seen, the first two sets of leaves grew in all funky and the stem started growing at a 45 which i have never seen before lol im very interested to see how this turns out.

I have just FIMed the 3 biggest blues, i believe that i am going to start to feed on the next watering in two days, the plants are starting to go to that lighter green color that i always notice when they first want fed. All the plants have at least 4 nodes so i will water them all with the same stregnth (1/4). I may also ise a small bit of b52 in my spray bottle to help reduce stress and improve vigor in the FIMed ones. Eventually they will all get FIMed or topped.

Hey JBC your a soil guy and i have a soil specific question for you. Im having trouble deciding when to water my plants, i have always waited until the droop and water them, but with these guys they seem to be doing better with moist soil all the time, i tried waiting until the top one inch is dry then light watering but they had minimal growth compared to when the soil is continuously moist, im just wandering if you have any secret techniques for me to learn lol. I am always a firm believer in sticking to what you know but i think there more new ways out there and i want to change my old ways lol.

Hey mate, I dont have no special way I dont think. I do what you do by the sounds of things. I do it by weight of pot though not depth of dryness. When it feels light I water. If they like it a bit more damp and you dont want to log the medium with water, why not try praying them daily with water so they still getting a drink. They love sprays in veg, Cleans the leaves at the same time also, gives them a nice gloss.

I'l be spraying mine with compost tea next week mate, just updated mine today, but changed my room 5 mins later so another update is probably needed.

But your girls look great mate so stick to your guns, if it aint broke don't fix it. When I kept my coco damp like advised by someone my girls hated it and I ran into all sorts of problems. I find they like dry days better than damp in soil.

Hope this helps.
