Re: Roseman's 2009 December Harvest

Looks like you've been doing a little clean up too. You must feel pretty good now that everything is all cleaned up and packed away. Don't forget to make a map of where you bury those jars, I can just see you in the spring with about 30 holes in your backyard and ol Roseman scatching his head saying " I know I buried them around here someplace. " !! I've been slowly picking those nasty brittle leaves off as they dry up , do you think their worthless as trim for anything !? I kinda doubt it , but I woudn't want to waste anything as there's not much left for trying to make hash out of this one plant. Anyhow I've got a little time before I have to deal with my girlfriends grandkids and daughter today, maybe get a little tuned up before I have to go play at the beach !! (ha ha, I don't think you could even consider a trip to the beach today !!) sorry about that ! can't help but tease any one out there in snow country !! I just hope I don't get sun burned today !! But seriously Roseman, thats 1 hell of a harvest !! beutifull job !! :peace:

Re: Roseman's 2009 December Harvest

so all those leaves are dry and are you grinding them up? or just crumbling?

All the leaves are dry. I processed two bags already, by crumbling them and raking them over in the Kief Box. I already have ABOUT two tablespoons of KIEF stored adn I need one more spoon full. I am not grinding them up, I just massage the bags, crumbling them up into smaller pieces.

Within an hour, I am going to make the hASH and come back with pics and a HOW I DO IT new thread.

In this thread, earlier on the first few pages, I explained how I Harvest and Dry and cure.
It is much safer to dRY until the stems snap, but if you do,
they will be TOO DRY and have less sweet taste. With the moisture, goes the sugars. Too Moist, you get MOLD.
Please go back and first read the start of this thread.
Then read here:
A critical look at preharvest flushing
the entire thread, it is not that long.

Bottom line, for a great sweet taste, either Flush them 2 or 3 days before harvest by using ONLY water and no nuites, OR Don't flush and do manicure them very closely. The chemical, grassy, hay-chlorophyll taste is stored in the leaves and not in the pistals or caylxes or flowers. I don't smoke the leaves, I cut them off.

I dry popcorn buds and fluff buds with NO stems for 3 or 4 days in 40 to 50% humidity, in darness, in 70 to 80 degree temps, with the air movig, but no fan blowing on them, just over them.
I dry small buds on small stems, buds like my smallest finger, with stems like the lead in a pencil, for 4 or 5 days.
I dry my largest colas on thicker stems for 7 or 8 days.
And I save a moist fresh stem ot re-moisten the ones that get too dry.
I cure 30 days, opening the air tight jars daily for a fresh breath of air.

My jars smell like honey suckles, like sweet daisys, some smell like sandlewood incense, some like freash ground black pepper mixed with sweet flowers, all smell very sweet and pleasant.

PLEASE save them. AFTER I do all my TRIM leaves from manicuring, I go back and re-work each jar, one at a time, picking off the leaves that were left on the buds. They make the very best HASH.
I kinda doubt it , but I woudn't want to waste anything as there's not much left for trying to make hash out of this one plant. Thank you very much, and save those leaves. They are the most efficient for gathering the trichs off of, you get more from them than any other leaves.

Re: Roseman's 2009 December Harvest

Very Nice Roseman as always. But I check my pot ripeness by hand and taste. Years of growing outdoors and an old hippie's help make it fairly easy for me to tell. But great for a noob.

Re: Roseman's 2009 December Harvest

Hey Mile Hi Dave!
Yes, the contrast is very glaring between what goes on here and what went on there. Much more fun under this sun here by far! And, yes, the people hanging out at this beach party are truly cool.
So much so, in the Stoners Dictionary of Proper Word Usage under "Cool" it says "see 420 magazine; the Deep Water Culture Gang; living proof that being cool ain't dead yet.

The place where many of us matriculated from... has been blotted out of the text completely. Sales of the Stoners Dictionary of Proper Word Usage have skyrocketed since then. :rasta:

Roseman:
Thanks for your horticultural leadership. Great harvest.
"Hates the tubes?" Do you mean the rock band or the irrigation device?
It took me a minute...but then I used to be a big tubes fan back in the '80's.
