20 yr grower - 1st post - defoliation for larger yields

I'm also a firm believer in defoliation. That's true that plant needs leaves, but it usually grows more than can be used, and that's why by cutting these extra reserves you promote quicker bud growth. For every leaf trimmed you're gonna get a new bud popping from underneath as now it can shoot up. Less leaves = more buds!

lessismore12's advice is experimentally confirmed by the cannabis plant itself. Although we haven't tried defol, Mother Nature showed me that I should have. Last grow included a Lowryder in 5x5x7 pot, Soil:perlite mix, BioThrive nutrients: Grow in veg, Bloom in flower.
Lower branches striving for light until Lowryder started defoliating itself, showing systematic chlorosis.
Wish we had defoliated at onset of flowering.
