1st Time Growing - Autoflower Strain - Tutankhamon In Soil - 240W LED

Hi Nick, this morning when you checked in on the plants who did they look? Anyone tipped over?

Good day MsSinful, today when I checked they were not laying down

The King Tut stem as I mentioned yesterday was starting to fill out and is no longer using supports to help her. The fan is inches away blowing lots of air. I did have the soil packed around and when I watered yesterday it may have helped. Either way this one never had a huge issue like the Cheese plant did.

The Cheese plant was not laying down but she was not straight either, she was leaning as much as the twist ties would let her.

Today I added a stick and an extra twist tie to keep her straight. So far she is not doing anything crazy, leaves still look good so I dont think its near any death...yet...just a matter of giving her some help as she gets stronger.

If she would start using her energy to build her stock instead of using it all on producing a sweet skunky sour smell that would be awesome...the smell is amazing but I can wait for that...needs the foundation built first :)

Here is what they look like, just took these shots to update you

You will notice the Cheese stem is still leaning a little, I can live with this, I dont want to put too much tension on the stem with twist ties. Its up, slight angle but hope as she get stronger and older she will straighten that out

Other than that, the humidity dipped to 32% while I was sleeping as the humidifier ran out of water. Back up to 50% again now.

To ease any concerns - you'll be fine. I'm no expert but I've yet to lose a plant that's made it to this stage of life - and I've come pretty close a couple times.

I know you want to be better than fine and I'm sure you will with all the advice and support you'll get. Just keep doing what you're doing :Namaste:

If it was me i would bury the stem another inch or so, it would help stabilize the plant and it would grow more roots where you bury the stem. Jmo. They are coming right along looking good.✌

Hey Tom thanks foe that advise. I was thinking about it but I have no more soil as I used it all in the pots I have.

I can kinda sweep the edges for soil without going too deep and kinda pack it around..im going to leave the ties on her for a few days so I don't mess with it too much. The stem is longer above soil than King Tut but not by much. When I remove the ties I will move more soil around the stem. Wanna give it a chance to strengthen with the fans blowing on it. In a couple days if no change I will just go with the soil like you suggest.

Sounds like a good plan to me.✌

Hey golfer420, thanks for checking in...I peeked on them early this morning and pretty much left them alone to do their thing all day.

I have to say it is crazy what can happen to a plant in as little as 24-48 hours.

CHEESE UPDATE

The cheese strain is still holding its own. I have not touched the support for the stem yet. the stem does look like it is growing, and it looks like the stem is shedding it's outer layer? I will hopefully attempt to loosen or remove the support tomorrow, we shall see.

Looking at it from the top is a pretty scary sight lol She is all twisted and strange looking, im not worried about it, probably from the fan or the way she was laying down stretching up.

Even with all the slight twists she has a lot of areas where light is easily able to get in, I would like to see her fill out a little more, and I am sure that will come in time

KING TUT UPDATE

The tut is really putting all its weight into this grow. The leaves are huge and bushy for the size of this plant, I feel when compared to Cheese, this plant almost begs for LST, and as MsSinful has suggested "Ponytailing".

Looking down from the top its really starting to spread and gain more leaf development each day, it is very noticeable.

20170511_001524.jpg

The stem is still supporting the weight of all the leaves on its own and I think we are in the clear for this plant.

Looking at it from a lower angle it is very hard to see into the stem unlike the cheese plant.

Here is a view back from the distance to give you a idea how far they really have come along

Smoke em if ya got em

Is topping something I should consider with these plants, or would I get just as much yield from doing an LST/Ponytail?

Well i think certsin auto strains react differrently to topping with regards to how stressed they get, but i've never seen an syto grow that wsnt topped that impressed me all that much. I asked around about topping my own auto and people said i should definitely do it. So im going with that. I thnkj the consensus you'll find elsewhere tht says "topping autos is bad" must be pretty outdated. Maybe its because the producers have improved the grnetics, i dunno. But im definitely going with the idea that topping/fimming is good, and LST as well

There are some good threads out there about auto topping and it can be done. I did it with a Jack Herer which wasn't one of my best grows. TheBeast27 had an auto topping thread and he had some amazing plants.

Since these are your first, one suggestion would be to limit it to some trimming and lst. Just a suggestion so you can get used to the process before introducing more variables.:Namaste:

Here is one of mine i didn't top, it is on day 31 same as others and it is alot smaller. The stems on the topped plants are alot bigger than the untopped. I was going to let this one grow straight up without topping and lst so i could compare. After seeing all the other topped and lst plants getting alot bigger i decided to start lst on her today, i wished i would have topped this one to but it is to late now. It should bush out in a few days if it is anything like its sisters, they love lst and react great to it. Hope everything works out for you.✌

Topping autos is great, you end up with more than one main cola. It really does depend on the strain though. The red poison autos in my tent didn't like it one bit so the yield will be low where as the og1 auto's I was able to top twice.
I would look into the strain, check out other grows.

From what I am reading it doesn't look too bad. I have already read that King Tut can take a beating and shake it off. I have noticed people snip when there are 2 sets of leaves with 7 blades.

I searched for TheBeast27 but there was so much i couldn't narrow it down to how it was done. Youtube time :passitleft:
