1st Medical Grow, 3 Strains in 2x4 Hydrohut

shieett some dank

Thanks for checking out my 1st grow and for the props!!! stay tuned because I have a feeling this will be an incredible next 2-3 weeks!!

Well done, awesome you have worked mulitple strains in there.

Thanks dogstick!! I couldn't be happier how things are turning out, I sometimes just sit back with my tent open and smoke with the ladies in amazement, at what a lil love and research can do, along with the support of a great website community!! :420:

I love the blue dragon shots! If you are stoned enough i can pictured little lizard faces on the blue dragons and the fan leaves on the colas look like their neck scruff!!!!!! me and MR. Jack Herer just had a session. Great job Ice any predictions or goals of a dry weight to hit?

LOL...awesome post Surfin!!! I just ripped some nice purple haze and definitely can see the dragons!!! Lol... Thanks for staying in tune with my 1st grow, I appreciate the encouragement!! As far as weight dry....hmmm this is how I was thinking about it medicated yesterday...

On my blue dragons, I have about 30 solid cola's with many larger under nodes, each right now I would guess in at 2-4g's per cola (estimated dry weight, there much heavier now wet on the plant)...so right there I am roughly at 60-120g, with another 2-3 weeks to go...so I am guessing off of my Dragon's it should be no problem seeing a 1/4lb or more... I am guessing that in the next two weeks those cola's dry should weigh in the 4-8g mark x 30...= 120-240g...???

As far as the University Hill's OG and the Chemband's....they are throwing me off because they are much slower developer's, 9-10 week flower I was told by the place I bought them from... So its hard to say with these...

My guess for the chembands would be about the same for the University hill's.... since both are more stretchy with more distance between buds and more popcorn style development, I am thinking that the yields on these may be a little less...but with another 4+ weeks to go...its hard to tell. Both the UVH OG and the Chemband each have more than 25 solid tops, but the current estimated dry weight of these probably is only around 2-3g at the most.... so right now I'd say about 100-150g if I harvested today... but in 4-5 weeks...I am guessing that each plant should bring in close to a 1/4lb or more.....

I am hoping for an overall harvest of at least a lb...I may be over or under estimating but that is my target.... :bongrip:

Thanks Ice. You're on it and the results are showing. :bravo: Yeah I check every bowl/joint now. If you think about it, many growers don't take the extra effort to grow great healthy meds, their in it for the bucks... too bad for those people who can't grow their own and have to rely on shady grows for their meds.

:peacetwo:

I wish more people would grow healthy med's as well..and after reading more about organic growing in general, I wish many more commercial farmers would do the same... we are ruining our planet and our soil with chemical fertz, pesticides and wastewater and organics is a solution to healthier planet and healthier people!!

Very nice pictures!! The close up are especially nice. I really like the colors in the blue dragon, its a very pretty bud. Nice job on your plants :)

Thank you bambee for stopping in and showin some luv!!! appreciate your kind comments!!! I am amazed by the coloration of the blue dragon, deep red/purples, light lavender purple, very light almost lime green buds, its an amazing plant and depending on how it smokes, I most likely will be doing this one again!! :thanks:

Babys are just mouth watering brother I love the comparison between yours an mine, very dense wish i could try some of the blue dragon bro...

Thanks Crower, I am sooo damn tempted to pluck one and try it but I know it just won't be as exciting as waiting for the final ripened buds...the blue dragon smells so strong of blueberries...it makes my mouth water just with a whiff!! We will have to trade some med or somthing when were all done with curing, that carmolicious looks very delicious...

Today June 30th, Day 38 of flowering...

The ladies are looking really nice today, fat and healthy from there watering yesterday. They are so thirsty, within a few hours they sucked all water out of the drain pans and really started to stink so good!!!

I was so tempted to try my blue dragon, I searched for a lower top that wasn't developing very fast and decided to give her a chop.... I wanted to see how much weight from wet to dry I was going to lose, to give me a better estimate of what yield I can expect. This also gives me an idea of how long the drying time is going to be, as well as a little practice curing and trimming as well.
The nug with branch I plucked off wet weight was 2.9grams... I hung her to dry in my closet (by the time that I actually harvest, I hopefully will have built a nice drying rack/cabinet but we will see how my extra spending cash goes...

Here are some of the leftovers from the Chemband that was removed last week. The smaller stems were at the point of snapping, so I trimmed off all remaining leaves and threw them in the jar for curing. I did smoke a little piece out of curiosity, but it was still rather moist and didn't burn very well. However, it did pose a very sweet kushy taste and actually gave me a very good high!!!

Not too much else to report today, I will be starting another feeding on bubble later this evening or tommorrow. I also will be looking into another bucket, airstone and pump because with the blue dragon's finishing a few weeks earlier than the other 2 strains, I will have to mix different amounts of nutrients. Basicly tapering off the N in my blue dragons and starting to reduce some of the nutrient amounts... Most likely before I do this I am going to wait until another week goes by before starting the reduced feeding regiment, but I do want to prepare my ladies to get that ever so sweet taste.

At the sight of that many colas, I just had to flip the 12/12 switch myself (no actually my wife told me to...) Those are looking so good that it is frightening. Are you supporting each cola with a string to the second screen? That seems like a very tedious job! I have to sneak in to my little grow when the kids are in the shower or something - they still have not caught on.

Also contemplating my next grow (see sig), any opinions?

You're going to get over a pound with all these, dry weight. Congrats on the ScrOG! I want to try this myself. When is a good time to put in the screen after flipping 12/12? Got like 5 different strains, 1.5month veg, LST/Topped/FIMed and ready to go. What would you say from your experience the Pro & Con to this method? Awesome pics, man.

Today is July 1st, Day 38 of flowering!!! Happy Independence Day weekend everyone!!!!

Today mixed up another feeding to be put on bubble for the next 2 days. Checked the soil moisture with my el-cheepo soil probe and seems that the soil is still plenty moist throughout the pots.

Brewed up in 5 gallons of distilled water, Earthjuice line (120ml grow, 60ml of bloom, 40ml of micro, 40ml catalyst, 30ml meta k) mixed to 4 gallons at recyculation schedule. Added 40ml of europonic humic acid, 12ml liquid carbo load, 10ml of bioweed, about 5tbsp of molasses.

This week I wanted to give the ladies a little break on there heavy feedings so I took out the snow storm, gravity, bioroot, and cal/mag. Tested as mixed my ppms are at 714ppm and 3.9ph which will rise up the next few days. I don't mind taking out the cal/mag because I am still adding coconut water to my feedings, every feeding, and the coconut water contains 40mg of calcium and 25mg of magnesium, as well as 670mg of potassium. ( I only use about 1 shotglass per 5 gallons because the coconut waters ppm is above 2000)

The ladies buds continue to fill in and fatten up, I can't believe how thick the blue dragon's are becoming and really frosty!!! Both Chemband and University Hill's OG's are also really starting to fill in and thicken up, but still much slower than the shorter stocky blue dragons.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July weekend!!!

Thanks Dutch for your kind words, I am very supprized myself for how big and juicy the buds are looking!! They are really starting to fatten up quite a bit!! I never would have thought at the beginning looking at the newly transplanted clones that this would be possible.

The Scrog itself was probably much more tedious than just letting the plants go and normal trimming/training techniques, but I really liked being that much in tune with the ladies for my first grow, and overall the hard work really seems to be looking like its paying off. :yahoo:

The top screen itself is only really supporting the supercropped branches of the university hill's og, about 8 total, as well as about 3 of the chemband supercropped branches... tying them up was definitely not a fun task, being that I started in the front and worked my way back, making it very difficult for myself...Lesson learned...lol The blue dragon's because they are short and stocky, will not need to be tied up even though the buds are getting really thick, the stems and scrog screen seem to be supporting them pretty well. I know eventually as my lankier chembands and UVH OG's will get heavy and most likely also will need to be supported so the screen was just my cheap and quick fix to supporting the ladies..and allowed a pretty decent ability to guide the buds where I wanted.

I checked out your new grow Idea and I like the plan so far. I do not know anything about hydro, so in that area I can't comment much, but the idea overall of the continous harvest sounds pretty cool. As the other comment on your post said, I also would recommend some kind of divider to allow you at least a little veg area and flower area, just so you can let your ladies get a week or 2 of veg in before flowering... Another question that comes to mind with your setup is this: your plan seems to be moving/shuffleing a lot of plants around weekly, will this shock or stunt the roots in any way being moved around this much..? I don't know the answer, but just popped to mind...

Hey Twelve12, I really am hoping for over a pound dried, but only time will tell:yummy: The Scrog really seemed to work for my smaller but wide tent and the room I had available to start, and I am really impressed on how many cola's it produced..!!
If your looking to so a scrog, there is some really good posts on this site describing the proper methods and details, a quick search should pull up the link... Overall You want to start weaving/stretching your plants in veg with the screen, once the screen is filled about 1/2 to 3/4 full of leaves in veg, is when you flip over to 12/12. I prepared my ladies for the scrog by doing a lot of LST before installing the screen, but I didn't really do any topping or FIM, I think I tried on one or 2 plants but couldn't even tell you where those were now on the plants...lol...

I would definitely say the pro's of a scrog are a large yield in a small setting, even lighting over the entire canopy (good for cfl and t5 bulbs as well), good support for budding heavy tops, somewhat even canopy.

Con's I would say: not good for seed grows, only because you don't want to untangle a male, time consuming (takes much more time training your plants to grow sidways) good venhilation is needed because canopy gets really thick, plants are not movable once they have been scrogged until harvest.

As far as you having 5 strains, I may not recommend a scrog. Unless you have grown the strains before, I learned that even doing 3 strains in a scrog makes it more difficult than if I had less. Each strain grows differently, especially in the flowering stretch, and I kind of lucked out, but also had to really manage my University Hill's OG because It was so lanky, it didn't seem to be a good candidate for scrog, unless I was doing only 1 or 2 plants in the same size setup. 5 strain's may be a lot to handle unless you have the room to train each one individually and give them room horizontally.

Thanks man for your thoughts on the screen. It's going to take another 2 weeks before the screen will be full with leaves. I'm going to built two different screens for each strain so they don't compete on the same screen. Since they will be flowering under CFL, I can move the lights up and down to suits the height of each strain. Will only flower 4 and have the other one out since it's regular seed. I haven't sex the clone to see if it's M or F. Going to use that one for breeding if it turns out to be a male. Since I'm using the closet for the scrnOG flowering, I'm putting together a 3 layered veg unit outside the closet. Should be fun. Thanks again for your input, looks like it's a go!

You sound like a mad scientist now Icemud :) Happy 4th of July weekend to you as well! I am trying to fix my "scrog" if you can even call it that anymore, so I am postponing my flowering.

Very /very beautiful!!!

Hey 420 mag!!!! Hope everyone had a enjoyable, safe, fun Independence day!!!!

Today is July 5th, Day 42 of flowering...(start of week 7)

All the ladies are really looking great, my blue dragons continue to fill out and thicken up, as well as join lower bud sites to top ones. I have started to check the trichomes every day but so far all clear still. I imagine within the next week or 2 the blue dragons should be finished and ready for harvest...only time will tell. My University hills og's continue to thicken, tons and tons of trichomes and very very pungent og type smell. My chembands are also doing well, however I noticed some yellowing of the larger fan leaves on my front right one, and it is not time yet for the nitrogen to begin depleating, So I think my soil ph may be a little low. I ran 1/2 gallon distilled water thru the soil on the chemband, Ph7 when added and waited to fill up the drain pan to check the runoff ph. The runoff was at 6.5 so I imagine it was running a little low. I am going to keep a close eye on this one, not too sure yet what it is lacking, but hopefully it will recover with the distilled flush..

Other than that, not much else to report today, I will be not adding any more Nitrogen to my feedings for the blue dragons, since they are nearing completion. I also will be winding down on the other nutrients as well and begin to taper off the ppm of my feedings until harvest.

2 days ago, I switched my 400wMH back to the 400wHPS and will run it this way for the next week. I noticed before with the extra HPS added, the flowers really started to thicken up more so than with the MH running, however trichome production with the HPS seemed to be less. This is why I am switching out the 400w light ever other week until harvest, to get the best of both worlds...

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!!!!

Nice!!!!!!! // wish u the best dude!
