is that tinfoil? im not trying to tell you what to do but, tinfoil isnt too great a reflecting light back b/c its not flat. it just bounces the light all over. but, looks like you know what to do. peace.

No strain, just the 1 lonely bagseed from a LB of "Chronic" my dealer had.
And yes, unfortunately its tinfoil....i know, i know, mylar next time. I want to thank everyone for their help in the subjects that i was lacking on. Hope to re-do the growroom and have a growjournal through the process next time. Got some NYC Diesel seeds on the way, damn they are $$$$

Very nice.
Grow on!

Madison is very pretty man.. nice work on the grow for sure :allgood:

there is nothing wrong with using tinfoil for now, but i would suggest changing that out specially if ur using a hps or mh cuz that will create hotspots.

The problem with tin foil is that any wrinkles in it may cause hot spots for form. Also, it insulates heat fairly well in addition to being light reflective. Mylar is by far and away so much better, much more reflective as well and will not insulate or cause hot spots.

I think what he means by "ghetto" is not spending alot of money on very specific supplies. I mean lets face it, making a grow room can get quite expensive if you want to go nuts. However, alot of the stuff you can use to make a decent growroom is availible at the hardware store. "Ghetto" to me simply means getting the nicest setup you can that will produce decent buds for not alot of money and with very little specialty equipment.

true, but knockin on someone cuz mylar is $100 a roll.

GEEZ, thats some expensive Mylar! I bout some Mylar, 54 in. x 25 ft. and 2 mil. thick for only $29.99. You could get 3 rolls for $100 at that price!

What kind of light did you use KL?

for veg, just a big-ass CFL.

for flowering, I used a 250 watt HPS- used. Worked perfectly, though.

The CFL would not have thrown off enough heat for the tinfoil to have created hot spots. The 250w hps would have come close, but you would have seen problems had you had a 400w system.

Funny coincidence, I'm using a used 250w HPS for my current grow and my room is surrounded in Mylar. May I ask what your yeilds were KL? You were probably working with supirior seeds to mine, thats the only other difference I can think of.

I was using purebred seeds (NL), but my yield was tiny, due to these being some very sickly plants when they began flowering. I was growing 4 at the beginning, with 2 thriving and 2 shriveling. As I anticipated, the big healthy ones (which were choking off the 2 weak ones) were males. I chopped 'em, and the scraggly plants eventually got stronger and turned into two very nice girls... still, I only managed something like 1.75 oz or so. Not much, given the effort I put in.

More next time.

I am currently working with two female plants of an unknown strain. I started with 3 plants total, but the reverse of your situation happend, the weak one was the male. One is tall and seems more sativa dominant while the other is bushier with broader leaves indicating a more indica dominant strain. I was just wondering what your yeilds were like using the 250w HPS because everyone recommends at least 400w. If I can harvest about an Oz. from these plants then I will be nothing short of extatic. It's not about the quantity for me, it's more because I rather have the chance to smoke something I grew completly organically with my own heart and hands.
