1st Grow Journal

So I’ve been smoking bud for about 9 years but this is my first grow it’s been a rocky start…starting the journal about a month in

The seeds are random from buds don’t know the strains
Look like I have two sativa and one indica maybe judging by leaves

I started them in solo cups using sun gro black gold potting soil in a small cabinet with a cheap light said to be good for a 2x2 space and (photos below are first week after germination )View attachment 2693130

By week 2 I believe things were still going fairly well

This last plant was planted 6days after the 2 shown above

Week 3 disaster struck I believe I completely allowed them to dry out plus the light fell on them for a moment

Coming around week 4 (3 for youngest) I’ve got them in a tent (8sqft 5ft high )and have a slightly less cheap additional 2x2 light ..transplanted to slightly bigger pots used fungi powder (plan on using 5gal by the end) I think they seem to be rebounding will begin introducing first nutrients outside of what came In the soil in 2 days(fox farm trio)

First grow is lots of fun. Clay pots will dry out quickly, which is good. Letting them dry out completely between waterings is best. Looks like they recovered from the accident and are doing great!

Update at what I’m calling week 3 of veg, and about 6 weeks since planting.. have two aglex led lights rated for a 2x2 each in 4x2 grow tent ..recently transplanted into 5gal pots. Filled with fox farm ocean forest soil (and a 1 gal pot for youngest) left and center plant topped maybe around a week ago right plant was topped yesterday have begun first attempt at LST ..plants seem small to me will see how it goes in next 3 weeks

How is it going @toddtony

Do you know the sex? I am guessing regular seeds?
Nice roots, how often do you water?

Stay safe, and grow well my friend,
Tok..
I don’t know the sex yet and yeah regular photos from random buds

when they were in the terra-cotta pots I was watering every 2 days….we will see with the 5 gal pots

Thanks for following along

Update
Weeks 6 and 7 of veg

Heading into to flower will probably flip light cycle tomorrow

Lost one plant turned out to be male
The remaining two seem to be growing fairly well temp adjustment down a few degrees seems to have helped especially the indica dominant makes me wonder what growth would be like if proper temps the whole time

Having been following general feeding schedules by fox farm for their nutrient trio

Planted a new plant June 5th was being lazy and burned it early on will probably flower it early as my older sativa dominant is already 23inches tall

Still not sure if a trellis net is proper for my grow or if I should just tie down but with the tent only being 5feet and a few inches don’t want the tall one to vertically stretch too much didn’t exactly fill the tent but I’m excited to see what these are going to do in flower

All three plants

Update:Week 3 day 5 of flower
We’re down to just one of the starting plants the rest are male
I let one male continue growing outdoors just to observe the process more ended up like this
IMG_1710.jpeg

Was looking forward to this one the most bummer lol

However we still have SAT A:it’s shot up to 3feet tall and the flowers are beginning to form no scents coming from them plant

Nice looking plants and a nice journal. Stopped in and have taken a look at times.

the flowers are beginning to form no scents coming from them plant
I have noticed that the plants inside under lights do seem to take longer and produce less odor. I have had clones outside and clones from the same mother inside and there is a difference.

But, be ready. Sometimes the plants will start to give off smells, especially after the buds get a bit larger and the trichomes start to show. If the plant can be smelled outside close to the house then figure others can also smell it and not everyone is nice so be ready to buy a charcoal filter, fan and some ducting.

My brain must’ve skipped a week lol this should be week 2 as I flipped to flower July 18th

Update: Actually week 3 day 3

Don’t know how my brain fast forwarded in time but it makes since as the plant was still stretching so much not actually sure if it’s done yet we’re at 3ft 4inch hopefully it’s done I’m running out of room
IMG_1724.jpeg

One branch did get a little light burnt as it was literally touching the LEDs very minor though have risen lights almost as far as I can get them running between 50-75percent power
IMG_1726.jpeg

While trying to remove some bottom growth I accidentally snipped one of my main branches now I only 5 …was in a state of denial about what I had just done and stuck it in the ground like that would do something lol here it is wilting away
IMG_1733.jpeg

I did however take some of the smaller branches and stick them in solo cups I don’t know how to clone but I’ll just see if they root doesn’t look like they’re dying

Lastly I brought this girl back in the tent (SAT B) don’t know what I saw that made me think male but it looks like it wants to flower

I had been planning on getting the filter for a while now can you cheap out on a carbon filter or will it fail to do its jobs seen an entire setup for like $80 seems to good to be true

Part of figuring out if the cost is worth it is knowing how large of a filter to buy for starters. Larger filters cost more plus the blower motor will cost more and the ducting pipes and hardware will cost more. Larger filters might cost more but tend to last longer before they have to be replaced.

Buying cheap is OK as long as it does not involve having to go back and buy a second filter and fan, etc. Or having to go back to buy a replacement because the first one was pushed to its limits in just a few months and is no longer able to properly filter smells.

First thing to do is figure out how large the tent or growing area is and match the filter size. Then match blower motors, duct-work from there. Measure the tent by length, width and height (height is almost always mentioned last) and then multiply to get the cubic footage (in the US) or cubic meters (in the rest of the world). Then ask for suggestions by introducing a new thread in the Frequently Asked Questions forum here on this message board.

Update week 5. Day 1 flower

Not much too more SAT A is bringing some color and density into the buds has developed a slight smell doesn’t stink up the tent it’s pretty faint

Sat B is still coming along slowly it is pretty far behind though may have to find a separate space for it to grow

Update week 5 day 4

We’ve got more bud development and getting frostier the scent is easily noticeable with the tent open now although not overwhelming can’t say what aromas are coming from it yet watering is becoming a daily thing
Temps are still averaging low 80s this heat wave gave a few hiccups but was resolved humidity is 50-55

How is it going @toddtony

Your girls are looking happy and healthy. :bravo:

They look a little of the wild side.
Do you have anything to support the branches when the buds start to swell?

Be safe, and grow well my friend,
Tok..

edit: Did you say you had a male plant outside?
Thanks,
I’ve kinda just been leaning them against things hanging in the tent if I need something else I’ll grab it

As for the male plant it was growing but has died awhile ago i stopped watering it
