As the Oakland art community remains devastated by the events of the recent Ghost Ship warehouse fire, the city's cannabis community is banding together to provide some relief to the victims affected.

Several Bay Area cannabis companies are helping out by donating to the Oakland A's community fund, which is currently working directly with Mayor Libby Schaff's office and the Red Cross to bring relief to the area. The A's fund promises to match all donations up to $50,000, and are receiving amounts of at least $1000 each from Cannaplex, Culture Magazine, Oakland Organics, True Healing Collective, Phytologie, CBCB, and Cheeba Chews.

Many people involved with Oakland's cannabis industry also spent time with the art community that frequented the Ghost Ship, including CBCB and Phytologie's executive director, Aundre Speciale.

Speciale had RSVP'd to the fateful event but decided to stay in that night, only to be messaged by concerned friends who saw her name on a published list of attendees.

"So many of us in the cannabis community have loved ones, friends and connections to those devastated by the fire," said Speciale. "Oakland cannabis and art communities are very close knit and often co-mingle events."

CBCB and Phytologie have spearheaded the industry's efforts with the A's fund, and have announced that they are also donating 100 percent of proceeds made from their house cone pre-rolls to the care fund for the entire week.

Both businesses are also setting up donation barrels at each location to collect warm clothing and other necessities needed for the surviving victims.

"Having friends from that community, from that space, and to have been so close to the situation, it's very personal for many of us. We were especially moved to reach out and try to help," said Speciale. "At CBCB and Phytologie our ethos is one of community interaction and involvement. We feel extremely blessed to be a part of such a vibrant community and are happy we are able to give back to our community in many ways."
