re: Shaggy's Quick Start Newbie Perpetual Grow With MarsHydro LED & Clones!

:welcome: Shaggy! Your setup is a lot like mine. My 48" x 48" x 78" tent should be arriving any day now. My girls have grown out of the original 34" x 34" x 64" tent. Looking forward to seeing how you manage those nice looking clones. Do you know what strains they are?

Wow I really hope they play nicely together!

Thank you Canna Montana! (cool name). I'll be updating my feeding plan soon so please feel free to correct me if I go off track, first grow and all.

Good looking start Shaggy. Looks like you've been down this road before. GSC is a very frosty plant with lovely flavor.

Cheers

:welcome:

You got some nice strains there....running off to research Phat Panda after I post. From the looks of it, you'll do fine, and has been mentioned before, if you run into issues there is most likely someone here to help out.

:peacetwo:

Well, after some brief research I have discovered that Phat Panda is a breeder, not a strain...how disappointing. It would have been a great strain name :)

I'm in :cheertwo::cheertwo:You got nice set-up.

End of week one, they didn't drop day nine edition!

Nine days ago on this grow day one, I went to a local grow store for soil and advice and the sales guy advised;
dude "Start with the tea bro.."
shag "Thanks man but I'm kinda a coffee drinker."
dude "No dude, before you start the nutes, begin with our plant tea, you'll have a way better grow."
shag "Groovy!"

Taking the dude's advice, I used filtered tap water and tea on day two and day 8 of this grow.

Now into week 2 I'll begin the grow feeding schedule and add more light for my;
7 clones in 1 gallon pots with foxfarm happy frog potting soil.
1 48"x48"x80" Tent holding at around 46% humidity and 64-84F degrees.
1 MarsHydro Reflector144 LED Grow light 30" above plants using "growth" setting on an 18/6 light cycle timer.

Tomorrow I install the the second LED and I'll tweak the environment and get the humidity closer to the 70% target. I started with less light as I read you should be careful not to shock replanted clones. I'll also be uploading some closeup pics. Now I'm looking out for what I'll call the big bad four, (learned from failed grows on this forum);

iron deficiency = light green toward stem.
phosphorus deficiency = red tips on leaves.
nitrogen deficiency = pale green leaves.
potassium deficiency = dark ribs on leaves.

More details to follow. So far I think I'm groovy. Thanks again for staying with me through this!:thankyou:

Day 11 update, time to start the grow nutes?!

This is a boring update to keep this journal updated.

The grow tent is stable at 45% humidity, 66-86F temp. (adding more light and fans soon).
I give the girls 1/4 turn daily. (as advised by somebody on this forum).
I checked the soil using the poke and lift methods, (yep they're a bit thirsty).
I slowly poured in circle fashion 2 cups of properly mixed grow nutes in each 1 gal pot. (pots drain slowly and nicely).

Our friend the dude recommended I start with newbie friendly Blu Moon Bio-Active Grow & Bloom 3-1-3 nutes pictured here.

Directions:
Mix 10-15mL of Bio-Active Grow per gallon of water with each feeding for weeks 1 through 4.
Mix 15-20mL of Bio-Active Bloom per gallon of water with each feeding for weeks 5 through 11.

I have some ph-up and ph-down that goes with it so we'll see if they're needed in the days ahead. Wish me luck and if you know better or see a mistake, please share your wisdom! :thanks:

Hey infiniteJuan, I just discovered we are right behind Asesino85 who built almost my exact tent several weeks ago. As I am new-bie I love citing the newly-expert!

I'm weak on environment, (humidity 48ish temperature 68-88F) and weak on light, (still only one MarsHydro177 with317W True Watt). So as soon as I can get out of work on Tuesday I'll double the light and fix the temperature/humidity.

They look pretty good to me so far. Any advice is welcome, I'm learning in real-time and that is always entertaining at the very least.

Thanks for visiting! :thanks:

Shaggy's Secret Perpetual Plan

As my first grow continues successfully through week 3, it's time to reveal my secret plan. :clap:

First, I just ordered my second mylar grow tent, a 2'x2'x4' that will hold mothers and little clones.

Second, in a few weeks I'll move one best of each of my two strains into the small tent. Two mothers will live there, (one GCS and one GDP), these will provide a set of clones for the next grow round.

Third, five plants will remain in my larger 4'x4'x6' tent to veg, three GCS and two GDP. Once the two tents are setup properly I'll tweak my grow area and supplies accordingly.

Here's a pic that explains how the cycle goes, the second tent goes online around week 7.

What do you think? Is my plan Groovy?:slide:
