For the second time I over-dried my bud….F the “snap test” method to determine dryness!!
I’ve read countless forums, posts, and articles about when to know yr bud is dry enough to bag..and the snap test is what u read most…but I’m here to say…even as a noob….tht method sucks!!…
It’s bn days since full harvest and the stems just sitting on my kitchen table… still fold, not “crack/snap..with using SMALLER THAN A TOOTHPICK size stems…so..to wet still right?..nope..when I jarred the bud,..it only topped 53%. Very upsetting
i ran my dry for 9 days at average of 63f ..53-55%rh…so my environment was good…low air flow (no direct air on hanging plant)…left allot of fans leaves on…
every indicator showed it needed more drying..but tested many diff meters in jarred bud and..to dry!!
So yeah, it’s a learning curve,.I’ve gotten good at the grow, need more dry/cure experience
.I know now to use multiple methods to test its dryness/wetness..
….as the SNAP TEST ISN'T RELIABLE!..it’s always over dried by tht point in my experience and opinion ..……
lucky I have 2 clones I can experiment with to gain some knowledge.
As for the bud from this grow: it may have over dried abit..but man it’s a good smoke…soft on the throat, amazing smell, taste..and mellow high..right off the plant. I have gotten good at RE-hydrating..(since I over dried b4)..so with adding some moisture back to these beautiful buds, I’m happy with this run….EXCEPT for the tally: came in under my lowest expectations..but the clones will raise tht bar…so all in all…got some good bud…learned some new things.
