If you're a fan of juice bars, you'll be happy to note that the latest trend this season is concoctions made with CBD, or cannabidiol. The substance, which is one of at least 113 active cannabinoids identified in cannabis, has a molecular structure very similar to THC.
However, unlike THC, CBD has no psychotropic effects, so it doesn't make you feel high, dizzy or euphoric. It does have lots of therapeutic properties, on the other hand. It can make you feel calm and relaxed, it relieves anxiety and can help you fall asleep.
We tried it out ourselves at a Parisian restaurant and juice bar called Wild & The Moon, who sells a plant-based milk with CBD. Named "Hollyweed," the concoction is made up of a pinch of CBD powder, cashew milk, orange zest, orange blossom, vanilla, coconut oil and maple syrup.
"It's one of our best-sellers: it's rich and sweet, but has no sugar, which our customers appreciate," explained the marketing team. Wild & The Moon currently has locations in Paris and Dubai, and will soon be coming to New York.
One pinch is enough...
CBD powder is sold legally since it doesn't have any psychotropic effects, but it can be difficult to obtain in states where weed is not yet legal. If you do get your hands on some, make sure to be moderate with the dose, just a pinch is plenty.
Even so, don't expect to feel high. To be honest, after trying out one small bottle, we did sleep all day. But to be honest, with the hot temperatures these days, it's hard to say whether that was due to the CBD or not.
As Wild & The Moon explains:
"Our Hollyweed milk doesn't put you to sleep. We would already be in prison if our products had that effect on people. In fact, one of our team members is pregnant and she drinks one at work every day without any problems."
