WW Questions

G'day,

This is my first attempt at an indoor grow and so far things are great, I have a few questions however that I'm hoping will help me keep it this way!

I think I let her veg too long for my cupboard space, she's two weeks into flower and starting to stretch alot which is making me nervous. Is this normal or is it stretching for the optimum light that it's already past? If this continues should I consider a gentle bend? I'm not keen on this or any real intervention whatsoever.

A couple of experienced growers have told me to cut out all the shade leaves also but I would have thought that the more surface area there is to collect light the better, surely the actual buds don't need their own light, do they?

I will post a pic when I get onto the pc, unless I can somehow from my phone?

Thanks in advance

hey Aussiegreen,
from my experience, plants will stop stretching, or slow down greatly after the first 2 or 3 weeks of flower--it wont harm it to bend it tho; you may get more yield that way as more branches will get more light. and leave most of fan leaves on --me thinks they gather energy to give to them buds! peace! :roorrip:

does the WW stand for white widow? just got a plant from a friend, ready to clone, how long did you veg it, and how tall was it when you put to flower? thanks for any infor and good luck...

Haha bloody smartphone, gonna!

Yeah white widow.
I vegged mine for nearly 8 weeks and babied it like you wouldn't believe. Work from home so I'm in there 3-4 times a day watering it with a syringe! Crazy, I need to sort out a drip system but this ones looking so good I'm hesitant to change anything.

Keen to see what the difference in yield is to my mate as he turned his 2 weeks earlier but mines alot bigger. It was about 50cms tall when I turned it from memory, I'll go have a look when the lights come on in a couple of hours.

Will probably stretch 2x-3x. Stretch will occur during the first 40% of the flowering phase, then vertical growth will practically stop. Keeping track of the length of that time-period can help you accurately predict when they will be ready to harvest (see one of my blog entries).

Awesome, thanks for the info. Pretty spot on too, bout 45% in and seems to have stopped!
Planning on using a microscope to judge the cloudiness of those sexy little trichomes!

I've been trimming the odd dead leaf from underneath and have noticed a couple or branches wilting pretty bad under there. Looks like they're just not getting the light needed, are they wasting energy and should be chopped.
I'm thinking yes coz there's a couple of little buds on em that I'd hate to see die off and be wasted if you get my drift!
