Willy Wonka and the Weed Factory: Find the Golden Ticket

Revolver Entertainment is hoping the marketing technique will increase sales of The Wackness, starring Sir Ben Kingsley, which is released on DVD on Monday.

Hidden inside one of the DVD boxes is a ticket which entitles the "lucky winner" to a trip to Amsterdam, where they will collect their skunk.

Under the heading The Golden Ticket, the company said on its website: "Yes, you heard us correctly. We're offering the chance for you to win a fabulous weekend break for two to the city of smoke itself, the beautiful Amsterdam.

"But that's not all... the lucky winner will also be able to pick up a complimentary bag of skunk from legendary Amsterdam café Hill Street Blues."

It added: "Find the Golden Ticket and you win! It's that simple."

The film is about a troubled teenage drug dealer who trades cannabis for therapy sessions with a psychiatrist, played by Oscar winner Sir Ben.

But the PR stunt which accompanies the DVD release has been branded unacceptable by anti-drugs campaigners.

"We all want to see fewer people using cannabis, but the best way to achieve that is through health information," a spokesman for mental health charity Rethink said.

"It is unacceptable for cannabis use to be glamorised in any way."

Revolver defended the competition as something "that will brighten up people's lives" during the gloom of the global economic crisis.

"The Wackness is all about people coming together through a love of weed, and we are just celebrating that fact in a fun, light-hearted way with a free trip to Amsterdam, the most famous weed-smoking European city," the company told Sky News Online

Well, guess what? I don't agree.

I equate this to a free trip to Napa for wine connoisseurs.

I wish I could win!

Just the 'tude of rethink alone tells you they have either (A) never got high or (B) have some god complex thinking they know what is right for everyone. Guess what; I agree as well, the trip to Amsterdam would be EXACTLY like a trip to the Niagra region of Canada for some snooty wine tasing event with some free bottles of wine as part of the prize. If rethink did not want drugs glamourized, why are they not all over the alcohol and tobacco companys and the ad men that support them. What do you call the "Bud Girls" if not glamourization? I just happen to like our "Bud " girls at the 420 girls. Rethink needs to rethink again. Oh, I get it; Rethink does not want the "Wrong" drugs glamourized. Is rethink paid by the alcohol and tobacco people?

And now for something completely different.

Does anyone here do one panel political cartoons?

I had an idea for a cartoon but, artist? Not so much.

The background is a tattered and run down Oval Office, Obama is dealing out small stacks of money to skeletons in suits with all the big company names written on them, BEHIND THE SUITS are drawn the public begging for stimulus. Right behind the Prez are some government people trying their best to hold back a wall bulging at the seams with money and on the wall is written one small word...pot. (Make sure ALL of Jon Q Herb is represented from suit and tie to sandals and tie-dye.)

I would love to see some stuff posted and if something catches on...

Where to post it? EVERYWHERE!

Ps Obama could be standing in or next to one of those giant bank safes that have the round crank on the front and it could be open to like a desert scene or an obviously pillaged safe.

Re: And now for something completely different.

Great Ideas. I made a post here at 420 about how I am sick and tired of being angry with the guttless, balless basterds we have in office up here in Canada and said I have started to use humor and ridicule to get my point across. I want to write a thank you letter To Mr. Obama, thanking him for keping the farmers from growing hemp so we can reap the profits up here in Canada ( 1 gallon of organic hemp oil is going for $180 Bucks!!!) Thanks Obama!
I know he is going to be forced to do something like just declare industrial hemp a needed thing for the country just like in the war and "Hemp for Victory". It has happened before. It would be nice if the farmers were given the go ahead this year to get one or two crops of it in(depending where you are in the country). 100 Days is all it takes to get the US on the road to recovery.
