Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, and that is especially true when it comes to cannabis, as there are so many different products and methods to choose from, each with its own pros and cons. The majority of cannabis enthusiasts out there still prefer smoking, but there is a unique crowd that joined the scene because of the introduction of legal edibles, and here we’re going to delve into why that is, by uncovering some of the most influential motivators behind why people use them.
1. It’s easy to learn how to make edibles
Cannabis flower has its perks, but it doesn’t take long to get bored with it, and most stronger concentrates are incredibly difficult to prepare without the appropriate know-how, tools, and safety precautions, a risk that simply doesn’t exist when you’re making a big batch of incredible edibles. Plus, it’s so easy to make edibles that literally anyone can do it with a few simple pointers.
2. Precision dosing
If you’re creating your own edibles, getting the dosing down just right can be a challenge even for the most skilled cannabis chefs, but now that these delicious foods are entirely legal, they can be found on the shelves of almost every dispensary, and they’re packaged in perfectly measured doses. This makes it so that you can be sure of your dosing and recreate the same effect each time you use them, so there are no scary surprises, and that’s pretty amazing.
3. A slow creeping effect
When you smoke a bowl, joint, or take a dab, the effects take hold almost instantly, and for some people, that can be a little bit much to handle. Edibles, on the other hand, can take up to a full 2 hours before the effects are felt, and they work for a time-released benefit that will keep the user dosed for up to 12 whole hours. That really helps when you don’t have the time or a safe space to take a new hit every hour or so, making edibles perfect for both medicinal and recreational consumers.
4. Edibles stores well
If you’ve ever carried around a bag of weed, then you know that by the end of the day, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be reduced to a small bit of powder. Things can get really messy from there, and if you’re not an everyday user, then it doesn’t take long for buds to begin to break down, something that edibles don’t have a problem with at all. Edibles can also be stored on the counter, in the fridge, or for several months in the freezer without sacrificing any potency, making them perfect for both the avid and occasional consumer.
5. They can taste great
Cannabis edibles have come a long way since those questionable pot brownies that so many of us tried in our youth, and these days, we’ve got the process so refined that you can’t even taste the hidden ingredient. When you compare delicious THC gummies or weed chocolate to the odd taste that you’re left with after a few hauls from a bong or a joint, there is no denying that edibles simply taste better than most other cannabis products.
6. It’s a healthier option
Smoking can be a whole lot of fun, but for those who suffer from medical conditions such as asthma or COPD, the option is quickly taken off the table, because it’s just not healthy. This fact alone, keeps a lot of people from trying cannabis, and so edibles offer a healthier solution with most of the same effects, and none of the lung irritation to go with them. This is a great thing for even normal healthy people who want to preserve the organs with which they breathe as much as possible.
7. Some swear that it’s more efficient
It might seem like it takes quite a bit of weed to make a batch of cannabutter or oil that you’ll need to make some incredible edibles, but the reality is that when it’s done, you won’t need a whole lot to get lit. So, while you may need a fair-sized bag to make a whole tub of cannabutter, one tub could infuse dozens of various dishes, making it so that over time, you’ll likely use less cannabis because it stretches further and the effects last longer with edibles.
8. The choices
How we view edibles has changed a great deal, and we now have access to thousands of different kinds of cannabis-infused foods to choose from including everything from simple cakes and cookies to more elegant options like smoothies, pasta, and even steak. If you put your mind to it, almost anything can be infused with weed so that you can get high while enjoying your favourite meal, instead of choking down dry old brownies.
9. No tools necessary
There are many different tools on the market today that can help with teaching you how to make edibles, and then there are some that will even do the work for you, but like it is with most tools that we have in the kitchen, they aren’t all necessary to get the job done. To make your own incredible edibles all you really need is a baking sheet and an oven so that you can decarboxylate the buds, and from there, you’d just prepare the dish as per usual, with nothing fancy or extra ever truly needed.
10. No germ swapping when they’re shared
Edibles have so many wonderful benefits to offer cannabis consumers, but one of the biggest by far is the fact that they can be easily shared among a large group of people without ever having to swap spit. With joints, vaporizers, bongs, dab rigs, and virtually every other way to use weed, there is some sort of exchange of germs with your fellow tokers, but that can all be entirely avoided by just using edibles.
