Good day. So I went full Mr Canuck and plant two white widow seeds in the ground without all the paper towel and soaking in water. Nope! All I did was drop the seed in the ground and BOOM. 4 days later!

Nice! I was so nervous to be honest haha. That’s not like a 10 cent seed. But to me seeds have had to grow in the ground for like forever right? So happy it worked considering I had nutes in soil :morenutes:

I don't let the seeds germinate before I plant them either. I soak them in water for a day or two and then into a small cup of Coco or a starter plug, I haven't been using the plugs though I had a few seeds struggle to get out of them.

I mixed a 3 gallon pot with coco and 20 %perlite and then added Gaia green 4-4-4 and 2-8-4 and 70/30 percent and mixed into coco. Poked a hole and popped in a White widow and whammo! It worked haha

All my grows have started straight in soil and have never soaked my seeds in water/paper towel. So far I have had 1 seed not germinate on me, but so far I’m 31/32 tries. So why change what is clearly working for me

I had the same experience. To finicky

At 10-30 bucks per seed, I'm ok with wasting a little soil or a rooter. I definitely get better results with that then paper towels but as always ymmv. I just hate to loose seeds and have before using towels. Sometimes it works great but just wasnt consistent enough for me.

That's interesting on the rooters TB and MK. I can see them being a little more finicky compared to planting straight into the medium

Nothing wrong with cutting out a unneeded process. Yep they germinate all on their own. The only problem with this is the few seeds that don't pop. I found I wasted less soil by germinating with a paper towel.

Yeah kind of one of them "find what works for you and stick with it", I'm clumsy and lost more in the paper towel method due to that or the towels drying out too much on me and damaging them. Don't really "waste" any soil as I re-purpose old yogurt cups for my seeds, as I can cut the bottom off with a box knife and split it up the side and transplant w/o disturbing them very much into a larger pot once they been in there a week or so (fill around the cup to make my hole and then put in and pull the cut cup away like a sleeve).
