Whitmaan’s Auto Purple Express: First Ever Grow

Hi everyone and thanks to anyone who has already commented on my introduction thread, this is my first ever grow and came quite unexpectedly but making a journal to see if I can make my first one a successful one. All details are below and any help or advice is massively appreciated.

Auto Purple Express from Freedom Seeds
Seed to harvest - 60 days
THC - medium/high
Height - up to 140cm

Started 06/05/2020
Normal grow bag type soil
Normal tap water
Sat in windowsill
7 hours direct sunlight
Average temp 20/22C

14/05
Seems to be growing quite well, I posted in this forum yesterday and got some really good advice, some of which I put in place yesterday evening...
Changed pot to a mix of soil/perlite/root juice
Have got a 60*10Watt LED grow light which I’m keeping around 5ft above the plant (if this is too close or far away then please let me know)
Have tried to up the temp to average 22/24C with a standard heater
Hoping to keep her in the sunlight whilst it’s direct and then change to the LED light in the evening so that she’s getting 18/6

I am a complete novice on this one so any info/pointers/criticism is welcomed and I hope this is a successful one.

Cheers

Just another update on this Purple Express... following an 18/6 schedule with less watering than I was initially doing. 7 of the 18 hours are in direct sunlight with a temp of 28c then into the wardrobe under the light at a temp of 24/26c. PH is just under 7 and soil is still showing as moist. The pic was taken just now, she seems to be growing away nicely?

Day 13...

Can anyone let me know if the lighter green in the middle of the plant and the slightly droopy leaf is normal? PH level is fine, she’s watered well and I believe is getting more than enough light. Hoping I’m just panicking as a first timer? Cheers

Alright whitmaan,
Yeah it's quite normal for new growth to have a lighter green colour at first, then it darkens up when it grows more. Some strains do it more than others.
My girl scout cookie auto does it.

Everything's looking good with your plant bud, so relax and enjoy. Dont forget to let the pot dry out between waterings, that's the important thing now.:thumb:

Hey Listers, thanks for the reassurance! I've been researching as much as possible but always nice to have knowledge passed on by someone that has first hand experience. I'll post a pic when I'm home later as she's grown loads the past couple days. Cheers man

Looking good :thumb: I agree with what was already said about the lighter green grow being just fresh growth, you’ll get used to seeing it. You did the right thing by making a journal and asking for help, you’ll do great.

Thanks for the reply mate, I’m glad to hear it’s normal. Took this one just today and she seems to be growing well

Looking perfect whitmaan, beautifully symmetrical. It's gonna take off soon, it'll be twice the size in a blink.
Hey man, you weren’t wrong at all! She’s growing well and seems to have just sprouted over the last few days

Yea, they go in little spurts, they're concentrating on growing roots also at the moment. Wait until about 4th week, they explode in growth.
Just give it as much direct sun as you can.

Another update, she’s started to develop little white hairs from the stem which I think (from what I’ve read) means she’s female? I can take more detailed photos if anyone wants to take a look. I haven’t added any nutes yet, can anyone point me to when I should be adding food etc? Cheers

To see if it's female in the first or second node you will see 2 little hairs growing like a triangle. If you see white hairs she's maybe pre flowering?? (so that awnsers she's a female)

Hi mate, yeah I think she’s pre flowering from what I’m reading online. I assume now is the time to be adding some food into the soil? Any recommendations from you?

To be honest I'm in the same limbo as you. Yesterday I bought some nuts but I'm waiting on some pros to tell me if that's a good or bad option for the moment hehe. So lets wait for somebody who knows it better.

Hey Listers, I’m hoping you’ll be able to point me in the right direction? Is now the time for food or nutes? If so then what food should I be looking at getting? Cheers man

Wicked, yours is much bigger than mine (no pun intended) but seems to be going through a similar stage. If you get any advice from the pros then be sure to let me know I’ll go on a hunt for some info now and if I find anything I’ll let you know

Alright man!
Man I'm giving her LST and light that's it! From my. 3 plants I had LST was what always helped me. give light to those nodes from the lower nodes. That's a good start and a Lot of light
