Which carbon filter do I need?

I'm doing a small closet grow, 2 ft high x 1.5 ft wide x 1.5 ft deep. Smell is a big issue for me and I want an inline fan with a carbon filter. Since my space is so small I do not need an extremely powerful fan, only like 50 cfm but I also found a 95 cfm fan I liked. I'm just not sure what kind of carbon filter I need. I see some rated for 100 cfm, 180 cfm, etc but I don't see any rated for 95. Could I use a filter rated for 100 cfm on a 95 cfm fan?

Also, even the 95 cfm is overkill for my setup so I was thinking about a variable speed switch. Would the carbon filter still work properly when used at a lower speed ?

Ok thanks. But just in general, say I got a 152 CFM fan, would anything rated over 152 work? I've just seen various fans with off CFM ratings and I was unclear if there was a general guideline for how to determine which carbon filter I needed.

There is no set amount for filter sizing except to go above the rating of the fan. I would suggest going 1.25% to 1.5% more then the fan. I think the filters are underrated and if you want the most out of your fan then you will go with a filter that has a much higher cfm rating.

Dont forget when sizing a fan for your space,,,,,,,its not just about smell, its about heat too. You're better off having one thats to big then to small because you can always dial down a bigger one with a variable control. You're out of luck if you buy to small of one.

for a 2x3x5 space would you recommend a 6" inline fan with a carbon filter attached

if you got a carbon filter rated for 100CFM that would work fine. i know you have a small grow space but 95 CFM is not that much so i dont think you would need it on a speed controller, just my thoughts though
Agree. The controller make only a little difference, very limited reduction from subjective observation. I read somewhere that running a fan to slow can cause damage, run at 100%.

It’s nice walking back into house after a week away to “fresh air” in the closed up house.
