To be honest, I don't have a firm understanding of when the vertical stretch stops because I really feel that it's strain and environment dependent. You'll be able to tell when the plant stops growing vertically and starts putting more energy into flower production.
I'm using both right now [have other hps in room ]. Have a few plants started late so under mh to catch up, then switch to full hps when ready to flower. Thanks for the help.
If you have a tall strain and limited space it would help to avoid as much stretching if you had MH on for first few weeks of flower. Then switch to HPS.
