What Will The Narcs Do When They Run Out Of Gas?

Former US Intelligence Officer and longtime activist, Clifford Schaffer, recently posted an intriguing forecast for the War on Drugs, as well as all the other terrible government programs that do far more harm than good.

According to Schaffer, the state and federal governments are so broke that we are just a few months away from a major shift in government operations.

“For the next couple of years or so, policy changes will be dictated more by budget than by ideology. Making changes based on ideology will continue to be politically dangerous. If they make changes based on budget then nobody has a real complaint. The money just isn’t there, so what are you going to do?”

Schaffer, who once grew marijuana in a greenhouse across the street from a police station, manages the highly respected Schafffer Drug Library.

Cliff’s outlook for the Golden State is anything but golden:

“California is $40 billion in the hole, so it will be some time before the
taxpayers get their refund. Until they do, every damn one of them will be on
our side on these expense issues. The issue right now is the economy. The budget crisis will force them to make changes whether they like it or not. All we have to do is show them the numbers, and ask them to make the choice between putting gas in the
helicopters or paying those pissed-off taxpayers.”

Schaffer sees hard times for the Narcs by this October.

“They won’t be able to afford gas for the CAMP helicopters by October. By
April, every taxpayer in California will be screaming that they want their
tax refund before the state spends one more dime on useless stuff.”

Is such an extreme analysis realistic? According to Schaffer, we probably won’t have long to wait in order to find out.

“With any luck, this will be all but over by this fall.”

Last night I was watching a show on MSNBC on the topic of the guerilla growing in national parks...

They had John Walters himself out pulling up plants. He seriously said, "The people doing this growing here are the worst kind of people coming from Mexico. They are the theives and murderers." Then he went on to say, "This is supposed to be a place (the park) to preserve nature, instead it is being used to grow poison."

Sounds like he truly believes branding a certain race of people as "drug growing murderes" is still a viable reason to make a substance illegal. In the exact same vein as Anslinger he chooses to blame a particular race of people. It seems in all these years the person in the posistion of "drug czar" has not changed their pathetic and weak argument for cannabis regulation at all. And after all the doctors and municipalities that have recognized cannabis as a legitimate medicine, he still calls it poison. One could almost admire his absolute arrogance, but this is only wholly displaced by his blatent ignorance.

Then they talked to the helicopter pilot who spots the grows...

They asked "Do you think you are winning this war?". He simply said, "No, I really don't think so. The growers are winning." :peace:

Interesting article. Money has always been an argument for pro decrim and legalization, but it seems the Feds still have money to burn on legal California dispenseries. Lake Tahoe was hit last week. Although we are a progressive state, there are still those rural outlining areas that are stuck in the past and have been brainwashed for so many years. For the most part, if we get the democrates on the same page, we can get things changed.

Common sense is not all that common

"The people doing this growing here are the worst kind of people coming from Mexico. They are the theives and murderers."

Roorman you are right. This tactic was pulled right out of the 1930's Reefer Madness. Newspapers of the time used racism against african americans and mexican americans to help create a frenzy of propaganda. Walters is doing the same thing. Hell, he brought a California vending machine to Michigan to try and bullshit those citizens. The only thing is that it did not work. Michigan passed a medical marijuana law.
Common Sense Is Not All That Common

hell yeah if the budget crises gets the legslatures to actually look at the economics of legalization to balance their budgets perhaps

science and fact will defeat the racist bigots who are all drinking up a storm at home after work and claiming old myths
about MJ

i 'm thinking of writing the new prez and asking if he has the balls enough to order or request that congress to re-evaluate
the status of nontoxic controlled substances to accomadate the progress of science and get a new stream of tax revenue since MJ is safer than booze for most everyone

john walter,is a very sick man pleaze forgive him.

Hell no! We should be throwing him in prison not forgiving this monster. I hope that article is right, seems their money purse is drying up. Hopefully some sensible policy will come from this economic crisis.

John Walters' days as a unicorn hunter thankfully came to an end 8 days ago.

We can only hope his succesor is a man of science.

[the unicorn reference is a jab at his comment that finding someone in fail for a non violent marijana offense is like finding a unicorn]

You know what they should do, they should change their helicopters to run on hemp biofuel, how ironic would that be. lol. It would save them some money!
