What is "feed to waste" mean...

I kinda' searched on here and didn't find too much, but can someone explain to me what "feed to waste" means, or what the method entails when growing and can it be applied to our bubble method? Thx.

Or just point me in the right direction and I will read it myself, either way. Thx again.

Feed to waste is usually referring to a NFT style grow where the water does not recirc but rather only passes over the roots once. Can be a costly way to grow. Not sure how this would apply dwc.
