What causes small buds- first pull

Hiya, so first grow completed I let her dry until the stem snap sounded like a chicken bone cracking lol, my question is my girls buds are super tiny what would have caused this?
I grew outdoor, slightly off season weather wise here but trooped through. Buds are sticky af and smells amazing, still needs to cure but I did test some and it was pretty good for a first go... but they just so dang small lol, any advice for future plz 🙏

What strain is it? What type of temperatures did she flowers under? Sometimes cold will create small sparse buds that are potent, just small.
I would guess without any more info, that either the plant didn't get enough direct sun, or it was too cold.
Sorry should have been more specific, it's a gorilla glue femminised seed I planted in our winter so it endured end of winter / spring and early summer it started flowering in spring but I wouldn't say we had tonnes of sun until now really. I've already Germinated another couple to capitalise on the summer sun ☀️ I'm in Australia so it will be hot 🔥 thanks for the advice 🙂

Lol whoops it's not summer yet until December 1st 😆 my bad but it has been warm and sunny last month 😎

Could be also genetics impact, low amount of direct sun hitting a bud as well.
Thankyou it's a gorilla glue femminised seed from a seedbank, but defs ticks the boxes for limited light as I started in winter, summer is about to start here and I've Germinated 2 northern lights so hopefully our aussie brutal sun this summer will give me some nice buds 😀

The off-season weather could have had an influence as well as the amounts and strength of daylight and length of night as the others are mentioning.

Knowing a bit more might help for the next time around. Since the seed came from a seed-bank you should know from the packaging if it was not only feminized but also if it was an auto-flower.

If it was a photo-period there is the possibility that the plant became old enough to start flowering in the late winter or early spring while the nights were longer. Then as the spring-time days started getting longer the plant would have been producing less and less of the hormones that induce and maintain flowering. A photo of the fan leaves on the plant about the time the flowering started and another from just a week or so before harvest would help tell if the plant started to return to a vegetating stage.

Or, if it was an auto-flower seed the plant grew as it was intended except for not getting as much light during the vegetating season. Without good amounts of light it could have been unable to build and store up enough sucrose and the food supply needed to build larger buds.

Working with this and the info from the others it can help with planning ahead and building more buds during your next growing session.

Also how hot is too hot 🙃
Outdoors you don't have much control, but once it starts getting over 90f...not sure Celsius conversion, they start to take a beating. Some handle it no problem, but extended periods of heat can cause loose buds. Also make sure you let them finish. Calyxes will swell towards the end. Most the bulk happens in the last couple weeks.
