After asking for some input on lights to veg. my seedlings into mothers in another post I took 3fingerdsean advice and bought a 315w cmh and think I am going to be happy with my purchase. I have some seedlings under the lights right now. I have it 57 inches above the seedlings and also have them off to the side just to be safe. Do you think that is fine or should I move the light closer? The tent is a 4x4 and is not getting to hot in fact the heater is running a little bit. I have it set up in my insulated shop that stays about 40 degrees or so. Thanks all.

I also bought a 315CMH this winter which I run next to 200W COBS...the plants love it...I would drop it to 36-48", especially since the temps in your tent aren't high. My grow space averaged 50F and I use 2x germinating mats full time to keep the tent @ 75F...I was actually hoping the CMH would put off more heat, but still love it.

:goodluck:

im just looking into these cmh my self , try cut my bill down
Not sure how they compare in electrical usage against LED...guessing more....they were what I wanted to spend and I thought I was getting a little more heat from them...but they def grow plants. :)

I was actually hoping for a little heat myself, would you suggest running them at 36-48" for seedlings as well? Thanks
