The 2010 Eugene Cannabis Cup was organized by the non-profit organization called Voter Power. According to the organizations website, Voter Power was initially founded by several activists, in response to the 1997 attempt by the Oregon Legislature to recriminalize personal amounts of marijuana. Voter Power's Executive Director, John Sajo, and Legal Counsel, Leland Berger, helped draft the Oregon Medical Marijuana Act (OMMA).
Saturday at a patient medical marijuana clinic in Eugene, card holders got to test various strains of cannabis to determine which one best helped their medical conditions.
"We had 25 different patients try 18 different strands of cannabis and give us there perspective on how it helps with their debilitating diseases and symptoms," said Jim Greig.
For $25 the event included access to various cannabis strains, food and beverages. Greig said it was also a way for medical marijuana card holders to get information about growers and network with others.
