Washing buds to remove impurities - Is it worth doing?

I have an outdoor grow and I'm wondering if it is worth washing the buds to remove impurities. Has anyone tried bud washing, and how did it go?
Last year was brutal for me personally. Crazy weather and pests caused so many issues. I ended up trimming all the salvageable buds and washed them. I did a three bucket wash (citric acid, hydrogen peroxide, and clean water). I could not believe how much crap came off my buds. The amount of dust alone was crazy. In my limited experience, it is worth washing your outdoor buds. Then again, I would prefer to hear the opinions from others that have grown for many years versus someone like me with only 1 harvest in the books.

Everyone who washes their buds says the same thing. Lots of stuff washed off and they were happy. I feel the same way about bud washing too but I don’t know if it’s going to wash off pesticides or radioactive isotopes. So it depends

I don't always use the baking soda and citrus, but I always wash my buds and give them a light spin in a salad spinner. If there is mold or mildew I cut it away well before harvest. If still persistent at harvest I trash the plant.
You would be amazed at the crap that comes out of them when washed.

Awesome setups! Thanks for the additional info and ideas. I think I'm going to do as you all did and get the fan outside the tent. I will probably mount to the wall that is near the tent. Speaking of fresh air, one of my passive vents is near this vent in my garage! It makes me feel good that it will be bringing in fresh outside air.
