Executive Director of Veterans For Medical Cannabis Access, Michael Krawitz, a disabled United States Air Force Veteran, is in Oregon this week in a show of support for Measure #74.
According to Krawitz, "Measure 74 would create a state level distribution system for cannabis based medicines that will be a national model."
Veterans For Medical Cannabis Access, VMCA, is a USA national, not for profit, veteran service organization recently incorporated in Virginia.
Recently published Veterans Affairs medical marijuana policy explicitly defers to the states so it is of paramount importance that a state level distribution system be created, a system managed by state health authorities.
The new VA guidelines and clarification of the policy can be easily found on the VMCA website: Welcome to the VMCA Website | VMCA
The current Oregon medical marijuana law has used a winning formula, which has consistently raised more funds than needed to run the program statewide. Using that same successful recipe Measure #74 will also pay for itself and provide medicine for those less fortunate as well.
Measure #74 will also provide for research into dose and potency and will finally allow the public to better understand who uses medical marijuana, how much is used, and what products work best for which ailments.
Recent science proves what we already knew to be true, veterans receive significant benefit from cannabis for some very difficult to treat medical conditions such as neuropathic pain and Measure #74 will improve access to those most in need.
