Very sick northern lights

My northern lights plant has been healthy up until now. She's roughly 4 weeks old and approx. 3-4 inches in height. She suddenly became VERY ill and looks almost DEAD. shes under one CFL(either 18 or 26watt dont remember) equivalent to 100watts. She was transplanted into a gallon container last week and seemed to be thriving (pics in my journal) but now she looks horrible like maybe she started with a deficiency and now just decided to die. it looked like a nitrogen problem so i added coffee grounds until my nutes come on friday but i dont think she'll make it as she is very sick. can anyone tell me what I can do to help?

Thats basically her gradual decline.

she doesnt have enough light man, try to do 50 watts per square foot of your grow area.

Wilting. 90% of the pictures in your journal show soaked or wet soil, sometimes it looks like your plant is swimming. Is it that you take a picture only after you water or are you over watering or just poor drainage?

Along with a definate lack of sufficiant lumens, your medium if it consists of peat moss, is most likely to acidic. Addition of coffee grounds would only make it more so thus throwing the p.h level out of the range needed for nutrient uptake therefore locking them out. I would switch to something like pro-mix or other soiless medium. Pro-mix has a blend that contains Mycoryzea which are essential microbacteria to help with nutrient breakdown and uptake. Also, always have enough nutes on so that running out is not an option. Most soiless mediums have little or no nutes so you have to add them to the mix. I use worm castings as an amendment and both bat and seabird guanos as teas for both vegatative and flowering stages. Give her the lumens she craves, change your medium and keep the ph at the 6-7 range and she should recover but time is of the esscence! Hope this helps...

Hey malcolm. Ironically its not acidic enough. i need to be in the 6-6.8 range and im around a 7.1 thats why i added the coffee grounds so i could add nitrogen and lower Ph. Its far to late to switch grow medium and i really do not want to attempt another transplant when shes so fragile. i didn't run out of nutes this is my first order and i just started vegging so i didn't NEED them at the time. I figured 1200-1500 lumens would be enough for a seedling until she reaches 6 inches but i suppose not. Thanks for the input i hope she turns out ok.

Hello Friend. This defiantly looks and sounds like a PH problem mainly. First I recommend putting a little fan close to your seedlings to help strengthen them up now & in the future & to help dissipate the moisture levels in your medium. Not to mention Plants love as much fresh air as you can give them.To quickly lower your PH try bumping up a feeding of Nutes with a High N Fertilizer. This should quickly solve that problem, Next Defiantly let your soil get almost completely dry before re- watering or feeding. 1200-1500 lumens is plenty for a seedling but you will need to bump up the levels soon for sure.

Also to help aeration in the soil stir up the top 1/2 inch or so of top soil after feedings. This helps the medium breath easier the water dissipate much faster.

LOL Also as soon as you can, Remove the worst spots or dead parts of the leaves at the bottom of your plant. This cant hurt now in that they are already almost dead & can only prevent other issues from happening in the near future.

Next Don't Panic!!! Norther Lights is one of the most resilient plants I have ever worked with! Best of luck friend with the rest of this grow.

These are words from the Medical Growers Bible about
Air Circulation,
Plants use all co2 around the leaf within a few minuets. When no new co2 rich air replaces the used co2-depleted air, a dead air zone forms around the leaf. This stifles stomata and virtually stops growth.

Other than these Ideas , you could use, if possible, some PH down. General Hydroponics has some that is priced fairly and will help you maintain the proper PH levels in your medium, through your feedings.
