Medical marijuana delivery got the OK Thursday from a group of Vermont lawmakers.

The Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules gave the final thumbs-up to rules that fill in the blanks of the state's medical marijuana law.

The regulations allow the state's four dispensaries to grow hemp plants for symptom relief and for the delivery of marijuana products to patients on the state registry.

Dispensary operators say the new rules will be good for business.

"We have a lot of patients that travel far distances to come to the dispensary and they're often uncomfortable or it's expensive for gas. And so we're excited we're going to be able to bring the product to patients that are too ill to travel," said Alex Ford of Rutland County Organics.

The new regulations are expected to receive final approval from the secretary of state's office in 45 days.
