Variable pH levels

Hey @Fatlad

Falling PH could be from a few different things. How's your PPM? Is it rising or falling?

Res Temps?

Any light leaks of res? Can you take some pictures, including the reservoir being used?

Water levels, have the been static or dropping?

Any pictures?
What nutes are you using?
The more details the better we can help!

Sorry for the short reply- out working in the tent right now. But will get back to you.

Here is the guide chart that @013 was talking about, it can help you figure out when to raise or lower PPM.

I'll be back on sporadically for the next few hrs while I get a few issues in my grow sorted, but we'll get you sorted as to what's going on brother

Hi rexer thanks for taking time out to help ... my ec is 1.8 and been like that since I added all my nutes and the plants seem to be drinking ok as the water is going down .. the nutes I'm using is canna coco A and B, enzyme, Buddha pk 9/18 and bit of cal mag .. in my reservoir I have a air stone not sure what It pumps out and also have a stirrer in the bottom to mix the nutes .. my plants are just coming up to 7 week into flower and look decent if anything maybe a little dark but I've adjusted the ec since then.. I never put the top on the tank as I didn't think that you had to but I'm still pretty new to this

Hmm yeah that might just be the cause of the PH dropping. Your feeding algea. You may not see it yet- but light hitting ant nutrient water is a no-no. That obviously doesn't count when your mixing or checking ph etc.

You want your reservoir lightproof. Airstone lines should be black not transparent (which you got!)

You got a nice setup, I think you just gotta block the light. I see you wrote "enzyme " - not sure which.

You may want to consider adding a beneficial microbes such as Orca, Hydroguard, or Green Planet Root builder. Your looking for Bacillus bacteria solution. Those are the ones I've tried.

What is your reservoir temp? If your not sure, your PH or TDS reader should be able to tell you. Make sure you keep it in optimal range temp wise (18-19C). Any colder then 17C and you have nutrient uptake issues, warmer then 21C and you enter the temperatures when not so nice bacteria can start.

You know the order for mixing nutes?

I do add orca and also mammoth when I remember to neutralise my water ... can I add it after a day or so ? ... the room they are in is pretty dark I would say 90% of the time the only time light goes on is when I feed my babies.. I don't know my water temp and my pH pen dont tell me and neither does my blulab truncheon but I do realise that could be a issue .. I always mix my nutes in this order

Silicone ( if using ) then bring my pH down to 7
Coco A and B
Cal mag
Plant magic enzyme
Pk 9/16
Shogun active boost
Orca/mammoth

Flower bomb on the 7th week

BINGO!

We've found the problem I believe.

I'll get @West Hippie to quickly confirm this is right (been a while since I added Silica).

Silica first - let aerate for a few min
Cal mag
Canna A+ B
Pk 9/16 (I'm not even sure I've heard that one)
Flower Bomb- again, this part is a guesstimate
Shogun (either before the PK or after, I'm not sure).
PH to 5.8 (or 5.7)
Then add your beneficials. Always do them after PH'ing.

I do the MSA (stout) first also but I mix for 15 minutes then the calmag for thirty minutes. Then just bubbles over night . Cheap nutrients in the morning till mixed . Then Z7 & hydroguard . And you know me I leave it at 5.2-5.3 because we know it hit 5.6 in 24 hours .

Wow thanks love the knowledge from this group and yeah Sorry I mean 9/18 ... so do I do it in that order all the time ... even in the early stage of flower when I'm using flower bloom etc ... is my shogun active boost and flower bomb classed as a beneficial or do I add all that 1st then ph then add my orca and enzyme ... thanks for your help

I take it stout is some sort of silicon and looks like you add all the nutrient day after.. im on auto pots so how would that work am I just best of turning tap off until all done ..

Also forgot to say I'm using autopots so they are on permanent feed as of such

I was using protekt silica but three days later it would turn to a slime , had to up grade to stout . I use ro water so I want the silica calmag blended in . I hadn’t got to try auto pots so I know nothing how it works. I have flood and drain & DWC hydro , no top feed . I guess auto pots is a top feeder ?

No autopots are a bottom feeder .. the basically sit in about inch of water then when they drink it the valve releases and fills the tray back up so it's on a constant feed

I edited the post to make it easier for you to refer to. I'm no expert, nor a pro. A few of your products I'm not sure on for placement (Shogun and Flower bomb), but they would be after the Canna A and B.

Silica then cal mag will always be the first to go in.

Ph then beneficials. You want the stable ph, the beneficials won't effect PH, or PPM/EC. It's fine to PH after, but I remember reading somewhere when setting the fresh res, you want the beneficials to be the last thing added/done.

And West Hippie has been doing this longer and better then me, so follow any advice he gives.

On my reservoir flood and drain it’s 20 gallons. Didn’t know you could have a one inch level . I feed 15 minutes every two hours but I have one bright led light . Are you starting a journal ? If so I’d like to follow .

Don’t listen to Rex he’s got this as always. It’s @013 you have to watch out for , he doesn’t miss anything !

That is just a rough guess on how deep it is and know unfortunately I'm not doing a journal as where I'm from it could be used against you
