KUALA LUMPUR - A 15-year jail term and 10 strokes of the cane seem to be no deterrence for a drug trafficker as he repeated the offence only three months after his release from prison.
The 39-year-old suspect was arrested at his house in Delima Apartment, Jalan Klang Lama last Wednesday after he was found to be actively trafficking in drugs in the Puchong and Jalan Kuchai areas for more than two months.
Brickfields police chief ACP Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said the unemployed man was arrested at 11.30am last Wednesday following a public tip-off.
"During the raid on the suspect's house, police seized from a black waist pouch, what were believed to be a compact slab of cannabis weighing 60gm and 145gm of loose cannabis packed in clear plastic," he told reporters here on Monday.
He said the drugs were worth about RM400 and the suspect was being remanded until Feb 10 for investigation.
In a separate case, police arrested an Indonesian man, believed to be actively trafficking in drugs since six months ago in the Jalan Klang Lama, Puchong, Pantai and Petaling Jaya areas.
Wan Abdul Bari said the suspect, from Acheh, was arrested in a car park at Kompleks Bandar OUG, Jalan Klang Lama at 3.30pm last Thursday.
"The suspect who was in a Kia Spectra was arrested with a newspaper-wrapped bundle containing what was believed to be compact cannabis weighing 1kg and another containing the same drug weighing 980gm, with a total market value of about RM4,000," he said.
