UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GSC

I think you need to give lady luck a shout mate, damn it hurt me to see that first pic. Great to hear that you fixed it up though and are back on track again. Keeping my fingers crossed that you don't get struck by lighting mate, all the best :blunt:

Damn the bad luck but as the old saying goes, things could always be worse. Considering all of the problems that I've encountered (premature vine dried harvest, mites and white flies, and now a tent collapse) I'll still end up with lots of quality ganja that will keep a perpetual smile on face and help me to forget about the the bad luck situations that have occurred along the way.

Mini Update

Last night I transplanted the Jack Herer (Pheno #2) and Girl Scout Cookies (Pheno #2) into the bloom baskets and gave them a good B2 & EM1 infused watering before bedtime.
This morning after my morning coffee and a couple of wake-n-bake bong hits I went ahead and tied down all of the limbs and moved them into the flower tent.

These new girlz are friggin' huge!! I'm afraid that I may end up with some real monsters on my hands in a few weeks once the stretch gets going.

:peace:RoorRip Have a great day!

For those who may be interested in how the new girls were pruned and trained.
Here are a few pics that were taken earlier during veg some of which are marked up to show how they were pruned and whatnot.

Nice to see your guide on pruning and training UncleCannabis. Those pictures are worth a thousand words and you make it look pretty easy. I'll be referring back to this in the future if I ever go the training route. All the best :thumb:

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Glad to hear that you found it helpful. It ain't rocket science and doesn't require all of the pampering and daily massages that I've seen many others do.

By the way, I just subbed into your new journal. Kudos on the new room arrangement!

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

I'd like to explain the notes in this pic.
IMG_1189_1024_copy.jpg

After the 1st topping I leave the flag leaves on at both node locations for about 5 to 7 days. If you leave all of the flags leaves on the 2 new growth sprouts (future branches) at the top will grow at a faster pace than the new growth at the node locate just below.
Because of this I go ahead and trim off the flag leaves at the top node about 5 to 7 days after pruning in order to slow the new growth at the top node. Trimming the flag leaves at the upper node but not the ones at the node below allows the new growth at both node locations to grow at about the same pace resulting in 4 new limbs of equal size and growth rate.

*Important Note - DO NOT trim the top flag leaves before the new growth gets going (about 5 days or so) otherwise you will severely stunt the new growth.

Once the new growth become new limbs with their own leaves then the lower flag leaves can either be left on as is or can be removed if preferred. The limbs will grow at about the same rate since they will have about the same amount of leaves on each new branch fueling photosynthesis for new growth.

I hope that explains the notes in the pic.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to the grow myself as I'm hoping the side lighting will help with the lower buds without taking anything away from the tops. Only time will tell.

I wanted to +rep you here but it seems that you must be the last person I gave it to. I'll state it here instead for now +REPS, until I've shared the love a little. All the best :thumb:

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Glad to be of help of Kraize.

Note that I've bonzai trained my girls 2 different ways. Some were done in a manifold type arrangement typical of what is commonly seen around the web as LST training and some were done as shown in the pic that I provided an explanation for.
I didn't think an explanation was really needed for the LST manifold type training.

Feel free to PM me anytime if you have any questions about anything.

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Thanks UncleCannabis, it will be awhile before I start training (if I ever do) any plants as I kind of like the au natural style with a bit of lollipopping (hoping to even stop that with side lighting) and I will definitely take you up on your offer if ever I do so. As you know I don't really worry about yield and that's probably a good thing too or I would be stuffed. I don't know much but likewise if ever there's anything I can help you with just drop me a pm. In the meantime I'll be here keeping my fingers, toes and legs crossed for your grove :) All the best.

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Great stuff! Lots of nice updates and the pruning guide couldn't have come at a better time as I need to get on that. Glad that collapse didn't slow your roll. Apollo Horticulture (makes the MARS Hydro tents also) have some pretty sturdy poles. I tested mine last weekend as I'll be putting 60lbs of lights in there. I hung weights on 2x4s and added weight till I got to a total of 110 and I felt that was enough. I zip tied where the poles cross for more strength. The steel poles have locking pins on the corners which are also metal. Zippers are a little sticky but I wax them and they are fine. A few pinholes on the seams but no major light leakage. I went 5x5 but hard to find lights for that footprint, the 4x4 goes for under $120 on Amazon.

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

The tent that will replace this one will definitely have metal corners. My 2 smaller tents (Grow Lab brand) were purchased new and both have metal corners and both of those seem to be holding up very well.
My 4'x8' flowering tent was one of those "have I got a deal for you" kind of things that I came upon.
Unfortunately where I'm located cannabis is VERY illegal and as such there are no hydro stores or shops that specialize in cannabis gardening products. After lots of searching and asking around I was able to locate a commercial hydroponic vegetable grower that also sells some basic hydroponic products. When I got the courage to ask about tents I was told that this is not something that he normally sells but he just so happened to have a used 4'x8' tent that was only used once for some type display at a trade fair. It was offered to me at a good price so here I am a few short months later reaping the rewards of my "killer deal" with plastic corners. LOL!!

Anyways, due to my location the cost of shipping a tent that is purchased online is usually at least 3 times the cost of the tent itself. Then there's the risk factor in getting it processed through customs without red flags going up. Because of all of this replacing a grow tent is big deal for me.
Lesson Learned. No more tents with plastic corners.

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Actually there are no Mars warehouse/distribution centers in the country where I'm located. I did get a quote on some tents from Sara since I'm not very far from China but due to the size and weight the shipping cost is still more than double the cost of the tent itself. The risk in getting a grow tent through customs is more of an issue for me than the shipping cost though.

This is only a minor issue compared to the many other complications that I have to deal with on a daily basis as part of life in general. This tent thing is just a pebble in the road my friend. Not an issue really. :blunt:

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

My other 2 tents were brought in as hand carried luggage and declared as dark rooms for the development of photographic film. :)
I'll probably be using this method again.

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to UncleCannabis again."

Good God man! That was brilliant, but then obviously, from the message reproduced above and as expressed by at least one more of us very recently, brilliance is your middle name.

I was just getting ready to ask about the removal of the flag leaves when there you were explaining it already. You put me to shame. I'm gonna have to step up my game. :laughtwo:

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this. Definitely going into my blog.

Edit: So sorry the tent collapsed, but you recover well. It helps to have inventory. :cheesygrinsmiley: Isn't there any way to fit some type of reinforcing sleeve over those plastic corners?

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

While I was back picking up your posts for my blog I was reminded that I wanted to tell you I love the way you grow these bushy babies. I'm real fond of bushy. Yours are gorgeous.

I've always been quite fond of bushy myself.

As you may recall with this run I didn't do any topdressings or tea applications. She's looking a bit scraggly but surprisingly she's not showing any big time deficiencies and only a few of her leaves have yellowed.
By the looks of things she has about another week or 2 to go.

Thanks for the kind words Sue but brilliance is not a word that I'm often associated with. Enlightened stoner is probably more appropriate. LOL!

It's a coincidence that you mention reinforcing sleeves. I'm thinking about custom fabricating some replacement corners and poles. A custom fabricated tent frame is certainly within the capabilities of this enlightened stoner and may be a better option than replacement.

I don't know what it is about her, but I find her mesmerizing. :battingeyelashes: Maybe I'm meant to grow one. I'll have to take a closer look at the strain.
