U V Clarifiers

Looking to you peeps for a little advice...
U V Clarifiers seem to be the hot tip if you have a pond and want to keep it algae free and control algae blooms. After suffering a horrible algae sitch which killed my plants I'm wondering how to keep it from happening again.
It seems to me I have two choices... PREVENTION...PREVENTION...PREVENTION...
H2O2 on a preventitive schedule and or a U V clarifier. The reason I'm asking is that I don't see much as far as info goes on the U V type of water treatment but it makes sense to me...
Has anyone used a U V clarifier?

Algae is the most efficient plant life out there that being said it needs light to grow I would think its much cheaper to just make your rez light tight...

Ive used UV clarifiers in ponds and while they have to be quite large to work well on multi-thousand gallon ponds you could get a very small one and it would be more than enough. Keep in mind though the bulbs are only supposed to be used about 6 months before you need to replace them though they will be effective still if your using one with a higher flow rating than your using.

It would involve plumbing electrical and maintenance where as keeping the light out is a cheap one time deal.
Consider yourself 2 cents richer lol
