The Norwich-based Legalise Cannabis Allaince ( LCA ) has chosen its candidate to go head to head with Charles Clarke in the city's south seat in the forthcoming election.
Don Barnard, the LCA press officer, will stand against the Home Secretary in May's elections.
Mr Barnard, who lives in Essex, said: "Limited debate on a legal regulated supply and an unclear picture of what the Government deems desirable has resulted in confusion among the public.
"It's more important than ever that school officials, teachers, trade unions, employers, parents and students have a basic of complex issues surrounding cannabis control and have the ability to participate in the political process.
