HIGHGATE, Vt. - Police say a New Jersey trucker is facing state drug charges after federal agents found 371 pounds of marijuana in his truck at the Highgate Springs port of entry.
The Vermont State Police says troopers were called to the border Friday evening after agents of Customs and Border Protection found the marijuana in a truck being driven by 43-year-old John Ibrahim of Lido, N.J.
Ibrahim appeared in Vermont District Court in Burlington on Monday where he pleaded not guilty to marijuana trafficking charges. He was released after posting $50,000 bail.
Police say a dog belonging to Canadian border agents discovered what turned out to be marijuana in the truck.
If convicted, Lido could get 30 years in prison.
